If you’re an animal lover, then it’s a given that you’re against all those who abuse, mistreat or abandon their pets. But while many of us might want to help these animals that are in need, it’s not always easy to know the best way to do so.
Bulgarian couple Stoyan and Dessy might not be a part of a big rescue organization, but their dream is to help as many stray cats in their country as possible.
“Bulgaria is a small and poor country with lots of stray cats and not enough kind people to take them in.” The couple explain on their YouTube channel. “Our dream is to build a shelter where we could take care of many stray cats with the help of Dessy’s mom.”

It’s no surprise then that the cat lovers have a total of four cats of their own- all rescued from the streets – named Sopolcho, Bagheera, Alexa, and Rijo.
Stoyan and Dessy dedicate hours and hours of their own time to rescuing stray cats and kittens. They film and share many of their rescues over on their YouTube channel, PawMeow, as a way to gain more awareness.
Their channel now has over 353k subscribers, who the couple rely on for donations to help fund the food, medical bills, and anything else that the rescued animals need.
One of the couple’s most recent videos titled, “Baby Kitten By The Dumpster, Waiting For Someone To Save It,” has been viewed by over 9.7 million people all over the world.
The caption of the video reads: “We heard this little kitten meowing while we were at the balcony so we went down to see what’s going on. The baby was out there alone.”
Stoyan and Dessy grabbed their camera and headed down to check out the situation.
There was a chance that the kitten’s mom was just in the process of moving her babies. The two women waited a reasonable distance away to see if the mom showed up, but while one cat did make an appearance, she showed no interest in the kitten.
The tiny kitten was meowing pitifully, and Stoyan and Dessy didn’t want to wait for much longer. Whether the kitten had been abandoned by its mom or by its former owners, one thing was clear.
It was now down to them to help the tiny kitten.
Eventually, one of the women picked up the kitten and gently wrapped it in a blanket. They then took it home, and set about making a soft and comfortable bed for the kitten to warm up in. There was no telling how long the poor thing had been out in the cold for.
Although the kitten seemed nervous at first, it soon became settled in the couple’s home, and it seemed to sense that they were going to look after it.
The kitten felt most comfortable in Dessy’s arms, and it happily took to a bottle of milk that it was offered.
Thanks to Dessy and Stoyan, the kitten is now safe and well. If they hadn’t have spotted it, who knows what could have happened?

“That poor baby! If someone left that one kitten out there, they’re cold-hearted. Thank god the little guy has a home now.”

“Saving one animal won’t change the world but it will change the world for that one animal.”
