Mike Wilson and his girlfriend Megan Hanneman are two cat lovers who run a company that makes wall-mounted cat furniture. This furniture is designed to help promote activity for indoor cats. They own two cats who happily test their new products. In April 2018, they decided they were ready to add another cat to their house.
Wilson and Hanneman headed over to the local Humane Society before work one day. There, they saw a huge cat named Bronson.
The Humane Society was busy that day, so Wilson and Hanneman didn’t get to meet Bronson. But when they got home, they couldn’t stop talking about him. They had tons of ideas for ways to help him lose weight.
The next morning, the couple headed back to the Humane Society. This time, they got to meet with a staff member.
The staff member told them all about Bronson’s history. He was three years old and 33 pounds, and his previous owner had passed away. Bronson’s previous owner was elderly, and so the Humane Society guessed she had fed him table scraps, resulting in his weight gain.
Wilson and Hanneman then met Bronson, and they immediately fell in love. He was as sweet as can be, and he was also adorable. Wilson was particularly fond of Bronson’s huge mitten paws, which looked a bit like his home state of Michigan.
The couple adopted Bronson that day!

When they got home, the couple started working on Bronson’s weight-loss plan. They knew that Bronson would have to lose the weight slowly. If heavy cats lose weight too fast, they can get Fatty Liver Disease, which can be fatal. It took a bit of adjustment, but Hanneman and Wilson finally found a weight-loss plan that worked well for Bronson.
Bronson is a playful cat who loves chasing toys around the room. His favorite toy is a tomato with catnip. He loves napping with this toy!
Bronson has a bit of trouble going up and down the stairs. At first, Wilson carried him, but then he realized he was in danger of accidentally hurting Bronson because he carries a lot of weight in his chest. And so, the couple invented the “transportation pillow.” Bronson loves it!
The couple is hoping that Bronson will lose about a pound a month, and so far, they’re right on track. Bronson is doing well and loving life with his new parents.
Bronson is a sweet cat who has found the perfect owners. We’re so glad this cat is in such a purr-fect forever home! If you’d like to see more cute photos of Bronson, check out his Instagram page.
