Woman loses her dog at airport. Finds her moments later with an elderly man crying & in need
Turns out Madison’s corgi named Cora sensed something was wrong with the elderly man before anyone else knew.

Cora was the victim of animal neglect. Her ears were infected and her teeth were black.

She was malnourished and snarfed down scraps when they were haphazardly tossed her way every so often. She was downtrodden and never knew love.

Her family grew angry when she began killing their chickens, so they decided to give her away for free to whoever wanted her. They could care less who came and picked her up.

Thankfully, Madison Palm learned about Cora being peddled off and felt pulled to her. She left work and raced to the corgi’s home in the hopes of being the first to snatch her.

But when Madison arrived, she was crushed to find what a poor state Cora was in. The little dolly had been treated as a puppy mill mom and given birth to numerous litters, impregnated by whatever dog wandered into her yard.

Her life had been horrible. But yet, she had a spark that captured Madison’s heart. She had no clue what her name was, but Madison christened her Cora and took her home.

“Cora had never been to a vet. She didn’t have a cute collar or a shiny tag with her name on it.”

There was one problem. Madison already had a dog at home and her landlord wouldn’t allow her to bring another canine into her home.

Undeterred, Madison made the decision to move and take both pups with her.

On their drive home from Cora’s horrible living conditions, Cora crept onto Madison’s lap, craving the love and attention she’d never known.

When they arrived home, Cora received what might have been her very first bath. The water turned black.

After settling into their new home with a grassy back yard, Madison realized that Cora would make the perfect therapy dog. She had anxiety, so she enrolled Cora in the American Kennel Club’s canine good citizen program.

“She is very empathetic and in tune with my needs, yet she is so incredibly independent.”

Cora is incredibly attuned to Madison’s needs, so you can imagine Madison’s surprise when they were at the bustling Seattle airport on layover and Cora took off! She’d never done anything like this before.

She needed her baby girl to help keep her calm, as they were flying to Alaska from Idaho to visit Madison’s mom.

Madison frantically glanced all around but couldn’t find her baby girl. Finally, she spied her sitting at the feet of an elderly man.

She rushed over, concerned that Cora was bothering him. The corgi adored people and loved attention.

“Before I could even call her she was already at his feet being loved on. I asked him if she was bothering him.”

The man scratched Cora behind the ears, losing himself in the moment. After Madison learned why his eyes filled with tears, she realized that Cora could sense his need from across the airport.

“With a somber face and watery eyes he said, ‘No, no. I lost my dog last night.’ Once he told me that his dog passed away, I looked at Cora and I thought to myself, ‘You are so amazing. How did I get so lucky?’ I truly think she has a gift. She knows who is hurting and she knows who needs her.”

Madison stepped back for a moment and let the man and Cora share time together. She captured on video this touching exchange of affection between a grieving pet owner and a perceptive dog.

“I am blown away by her on a daily basis. Who knew a dog who was unloved for 7.5 years could have so much love to give? She lives for making people happy again.”

It truly was fate that Cora’s owners posted on Facebook that she needed a new home and Madison’s coworker spied that post and told her about it. Cora needed love, affection, a new life and a new home. She deserved it. And Madison rescued her.

“She just wants to be loved on and held all day long. She is always right next to me and always keeps a close eye if she’s not. If I’m not available she’ll pick the next closest lap to sit in.”

Dogs are truly incredible creatures and Cora proves this fact. We hope she continues to touch other people’s lives and have a positive impact on everyone whose path she crosses.
