Why did the dog cross the road? It sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, but one clever pup has set an example for everyone – human and canine alike. In dashcam footage that was shared on the internet and was quickly viewed by thousands, we see a clever pup patiently waiting to cross the road.
A driver suddenly spotted a dog at the side of the road and stopped because he thought the pup might be in danger.
After all, an unaccompanied dog on a relatively busy street can easily end up taking a turn for the worse. However, the driver was absolutely surprised to see how the canine reacted.
The brilliant dashcam footage shows that the dog is patiently waiting for his turn to walk across the crosswalk, and he even takes the two traffic lanes into account. Even though the pup took a couple of steps forward when the driver in the first lane stopped, he absolutely made sure that there was no traffic on the oncoming lane as well.
Luckily, one of the drivers on the other lane quickly realized what was going on and figured it’d be best to take a halt at the designated crossing as well. Two drivers on the oncoming lane simply ignored the pup, but luckily, this driver of a white van realized that the pup needed to get across the road. The smart pup then proceded to walk over the zebra crossing as if it were a human being needing to cross the street.
Thanks to these two drivers, the path was safe and clear for this unidentified and clever dog, and the pup always remained very cautious and aware of his surroundings.
It definitely makes you wonder what kind of mysterious journey this pup is going on!
Even though dogs definitely aren’t considered to be dumb animals, it’s quite surprising to see this amount of cleverness and intelligence, especially in a very crowded and unfamiliar traffic situation. The fact that the pup knew to check out both lanes at the same time is absolutely remarkable and proof of obedience.
Of course, it’s possible that this pup’s possible owner has trained him to cross the road or perhaps it’s just a very common route for this dog – but it remains an impressive feat for a pup nonetheless. In fact, many would argue that this dog is smarter than some humans crossing the road.
Seeing this pup cross the road in the rain and being all alone, we can only hope that the dog has a warm and loving place to call home. The dashcam footage was taken somewhere in Europe, but a specific location couldn’t be identified.
In any case, the smartness displayed by this four-footer has quickly gone viral.
“Wow, I am really impressed that the dog has been trained to wait for a break in the traffic b4 crossing. I am equally impressed that the cars stopped for the dog,” Leanne Moores wrote on Facebook.
“Such a smart and well educated dog. Fortunately the drivers were respectful enough to stop and let him cross the road,” Olga Sarser added.
