The holidays are the greatest time of the year, especially if you are a child! The holidays mean good food, quality family time, and lots of toys (that’s why it’s so great for all the kids!).
Children take their toys very seriously, and the holidays are the time when they play with them the most. That’s why when something bad happened to this child’s toy, all hell broke loose.
It was a moment that had everyone in the emergency room, biting their nails in fear.
A mother named Jenn Thelen woke up when she heard her 7-year-old daughter, Aubrie, screaming at the top of her lungs. That’s pretty much every parent’s worst nightmare.
Jenn hopped out of bed quickly to see why her young girl was screaming, and it turns out that the family dog, Zoey, had been chewing Aubrie’s favorite toy to shreds.
Aubrie’s favorite toy is an Elf on a Shelf, named Sam.
Elf on a Shelf is a little elf that comes to a family’s home before Christmas. They do this so that they can keep an eye on the children in the house and report back to Santa, to determine whether or not they’ve been naughty or nice. Every night, the elf moves to a different spot in the house to keep watch.
Aubrie was distraught and totally beside herself, so Jenn had a fun idea.
Turns out, Jenn is actually the nurse manager in the emergency department at Arnold Palmer Hospital. So she decided to pull some strings and use that as a way to fix her daughter’s elf.
Jenn assured Aubrie that they’d take Sam to the hospital, where he’d get the best treatment from the best of the best staff.
Jenn shared her story:
“Jenn took Sam with her to work that morning, and after careful planning, the medical team wheeled him into the trauma bay. The team used expired medical products to work on the elf, and even used a special pair of Santa’s magic gloves,” she wrote.
“Aubrie knew that the elf could not be touched, but Jenn told her that the ‘magic gloves’ would allow the team to work on Sam,” she added.
A worker in the emergency room worked very hard to bring Sam back to life.
She wrapped him up in bandages, performed some “treatments” on him, and even sprinkled him with glitter toward the end because, you know, he’s a magical elf.
This story blew up and went viral on the Internet, people were so touched by the amount of effort Jenn had put in to please her anxious daughter.
It was a shame that Sam had been destroyed by Zoey, but it is so amazing to watch the medical team put him back together.
Truly a holiday miracle!
It’s not every day you see something as crazy as this go down in a hospital. We could even go as far to say that it was a Christmas miracle!
“This is awesome!! Thank you to the mom and staff at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children for your dedication to children and the magic of Christmas!! Merry Christmas to you all,” one person wrote.
