Dog shows are where pooches are pushed to the limit. Speed, stamina, and finesse are tested as much as possible. It’s why athletic breeds are the most popular contestants.

But even with its short legs, this Chihuahua managed to be competitive at this show – all while putting on a show of its own.

This chihuahua is Sophie, and her tiny body’s gotta keep up with the bigger, faster dogs at this competition.

And yet she chose to show up anyway, and that should tell you a lot about her. What she lacks in size, she might very well make up for with technique.

Sophie brought along some good music for her performance too. She chose “Little People” from Les Misérables.

Her owner is Jenny Witt, a bright young lady with social anxiety who cites Sophie as a big help in dealing with it. Sophie is a dependable, sweet companion first, and a performer second.

Now, let’s hear “Little People” already and see what Sophie and Jenny have to offer.

Well, Sophie certainly knows the routine. She can tip-toe to the beat of the song, and do it backwards to boot. Jenny guides the little chihuahua, and Sophie follows her lead to great effect.

It makes for an adorable show already, with Jenny in a cute outfit and the little chihuahua circling around her.

And the best part is that there’s even more to come.

The song choice is splendid. Very on-the-nose, and I would have it no other way. Being the perfect subject for the song, Sophie continues to tip-toe and weave between Jenny’s legs.

Little people indeed make the world go round. Let Sophie remind you of that.

She’s not a hundred feet tall, but she doesn’t need to be.

She’s everything Jenny needs her to be: a dance partner and a best friend.

And she practiced as much as Jenny needed her to. Sophie even remembers how to wave her paws to the tune of the song when Jenny gives the signal.

It’s easy to see why Sophie was a helping hand in managing Jenny’s social anxiety.

The pint-sized chihuahua has the confidence of a much bigger dog.

She can dance like this in front of such a big crowd, and those little feet don’t look frozen or shaky at all. Who’d have known that taking your cue from a small dog would be such a big help?

By far the most impressive move that the pair showed off was a leg jump.

When the lyrics “little people fight!” come on, Sophie leaps towards Jenny’s leg and then hops off.

And she repeats it a few more times to match the song.

This trick proved a hit with the judges.

The results came in, and the pair ended up getting a 2nd place rank. Should they have gotten 1st place? I want to say yes, but the outfit and small dog might have me a bit biased.

Watch it for yourself below, and decide if they deserved 1st place. Please give this article a share too!
