Have you ever heard of the saying, “they fight like cats and dogs”? It basically sprung up because of these two fur animals’ personalities and characteristics that make them clash and somewhat argue. But that is not the case all the time. Some cats and dogs are actually best friends. Here’s a story about a dog who became happy and bubbly after meeting this cat which turned out to be his new best buddy.
A dog named Chapo was chained up for four years by his previous owner.
Being tied to a chain in his previous owner’s yard for four years was really traumatizing for this poor dog. According to Claudia, Chapo’s new foster parent, Chapo’s pretty overwhelmed with his new situation as if he wanted to go out instead of staying in no matter what.
Chapo’s basic needs weren’t met.
Surely, Chapo did not have any proper shelter for years, as well as food and water. That is why his new foster mom makes sure that Chapo has a comfortable place to sleep in, has enough food and water on his bowl all the time.
Chapo’s new foster mom patiently showed Chapo that his traumatizing past will not ever happen again.
But it seems that his dark past still haunts this poor doggo from time to time.
When Claudia rescued and fostered Chapo, he still gets anxiety attacks where his whole body trembles. Whenever that happens, Claudia grabs a blanket and stops whatever she’s doing to be with Chapo until he calms down. She ensures that Chapo feels that he is not alone in this battle and he will get through it with his fur mom on his side.
Little by little, Chapo found his new safe space.
Chapo started to let his guard down and felt safe in Claudia’s room, which happens to be Freeway, Claudia’s pet cat, safe space too! That’s when Chapo found a best friend in Freeway. This adorable cat stays with Chapo every time they’re in Claudia’s room. Freeway also plays with Chapo, too!
From there, Chapo became happy, gentle, and very playful.
He found comfort with Freeway being on his side. With that, the barriers between Chapo and the outside world started to crumble and he became a happy and playful doggo. He even played with Claudia’s niece outside!
