When lockdown first began, it was natural for people to feel anxious about how they’d adjust to this new way of living. Having to mentally calculate how far a distance six feet is when we’re shopping for groceries is something we never thought we’d be doing. Not only that, but there’s the working from home, not seeing family members and canceled trips to get our heads around.
This can leave us feeling very lost and confused, so maybe it’s time to speak to the experts — those who have been self-isolating professionally for years — the cats. Here are 40 cats who have quarantine all figured out.
1) This Professional Puss
This man just wanted his cat to look nice and put together for his work video meetings. What he didn’t expect was for the little guy to totally outshine him in that sweet little collar and tie. He now owns 50% of the business.
2) “You Will Love Me…”
The relationship between a cat and dog is pretty much always determined by the cat. And when the cat suddenly decides to be friends, the dog has to go along with it, or else. At least there’s one good thing to come out of being quarantined.
3) A Sweet Surprise
Moments like this remind us that whilst things are very different right now for us humans who are locked down, life still goes on for the animals. This stray kitty found the perfect place to have her kittens in a spot where she knew they would be safe and warm. How purrecious
4) The Cats Who Invented Social Distancing
These cats were social distancing before it was cool. With cats, you have to understand that there are unspoken rules, and if a cat claims a chair as their own, then it’s for them only, and no one else can sit on it (this applies to humans too.) We wonder how social distancing works around mealtimes?
5) “Human, What Did You Do?”
This kitty was put into quarantine after sneezing, and she looks appalled by the sheer audacity of her owners. Though we have to admit, she matches the tiles on the wall perfectly. The cat is probably using this time to plot a murder, so if we were the owners responsible for this, we’d be sleeping with one eye open tonight.
6) The Good Old Days
Now that toilet paper is a sacred item, the idea of our kitty ripping up our precious rolls is terrifying. If cats are aware of this, then for many it could be a time for revenge.
“Remember that night you forgot to feed me? Now you can’t wipe yourself puny hooman.”
“Lick yourself clean like the rest of us you furless mutant!”
7) “Is This What They Meant?”
The ever-changing rules of lockdown can be a little complicated, and this kitty decided that it’s best to just put his whole self in the sink to reduce the risk of getting into trouble. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
“Look, Mom, I’m doing it!”
8) When You’re Not A People Person So You’re Already An Expert At Self-Isolation
This cat was self isolating before it was mainstream — though we recKon we would too if we had a cozy bed like that to cuddle up in. To be honest we’ll admit that we’re a little surprised — we were expecting the life of Taylor Swift’s cat to be a lot more glamorous.
9) Why Go To Work When You Can Stay In Bed?
Now this is a post that we can totally relate to. Self isolating is comfortable, safe, and we don’t have to put up with the annoying person in the office with that irritating laugh. Add snuggles with our kitty to the mix, and there’s a strong possibility of us never leaving our house ever again.
10) When You Like Each Other, But Not That Much.
You know that feeling when you want someone else’s company but you still need your own space? These cats have been social distancing for years by choice, and they know better than to move into the allocated spot of another. If only it was as easy for us humans!
11) Charmander For President
This cat is making sure his owner follows lockdown rules to the T. If he sits on his owner’s boots, there’s no risk of her escaping and potentially bringing an unwanted virus into the house. Besides, if she got sick, who would feed him? Somebody has to take charge and keep these people in line!
12) “Not Now, Karen, I’m In A Very Important Meeting.”
Lockdown ruled mean that physical meetings have become virtual ones, but this new change in rules isn’t going to stop these cats from conspiring to take over the world. Thanks to the delights of modern day technology, these cats haven’t missed a single meeting. It’s day 26 and the owners are still clueless to why their laptop battery keeps getting drained.
13) The Best Lockdown Purchase
Because what better way to improve your lockdown than three cats? Most people have gone to town with random Amazon purchases, online clothes orders for events that they won’t be going to, or DIY projects that are given up on after the first day. But we have to admit, buying three adorable kitties in lockdown would be a purchase that we’d never forget.
14) A Bad Cat.
This cat has committed the worst offence of 2020, but at least he has the decency to look guilty about it. In these hard times, we’ll bet any money that the owner rolled it back up and used it anyway. We know we would.
15) A Different Kind Of Quarantine Cat
This is one occasion where you won’t have to tell us twice about social distancing, because we’ll already be making sure that we’re a lot more than two meters away from this furry guy. We’re amazed — but also slightly terrified — that lockdown has allowed animals like this to take over our streets.
16) “Human, I Demand Your Attention
What is it with cats and laptops? They’re drawn to them like a moth to a flame. Besides, it’s been ten minutes since you last provided your kitty with food and a good belly rub, so there’s no way that they could possibly be as hungry or as attention deprived as they’re making out when you’re trying to do your work. We’re not sure that, “The cat sat on the laptop.” will be a good enough excuse to give to the boss.
17) An Interrupted Hibernation
This cat has been self isolating for so long that he doesn’t even know what year we’re in anymore, let alone what day it is. He looks like he just been woken up from a 12768 hour nap — and he’s not happy about it.
“Human, please close the door and let me continue with my hibernation.”
18) “Take Me With You.”
This cat is so done with self isolating that she’s even willing to go shopping with you if it means that she doesn’t have to sit in this house for a second longer. Make sure you hold on tightly to her in the milk aisle.
19) A Very Brave Kitty
Or maybe, the cat knows exactly what he’s doing… One theory goes that cats have foreseen the toilet paper shortage and have been practicing in the lead up to this moment for years. Cats are now expert toilet-paper-unrollers, and we’re all in trouble.
Waffles is blissfully unaware of his transgressions during this time of crisis! Guess I’ll be using him to wipe my ass from now on. ๐#QuarantineCats pic.twitter.com/Sm9T005DJu

20) The Best Car Journey Buddy
If we tried this with our cat, there’s a 95% chance that a road traffic accident would happen. Does anyone want a cat for a hat? But if your cat doesn’t spend a car ride acting as if they’re being driven towards their impending death, then this is a very sweet little idea for keeping them entertained.
Iโm a Special Needs Bus Driver in Oregon. Schools closed next two weeks, Iโm spending more time with Junior.

21) The Award For Best Owners Goes To…
We don’t know what we love the most about this picture — the cat shaped hole in this miniature TARDIS or the fact that the cat on the right is wearing a bow tie which he looks very proud about. Besides, as the entire thing is made out of cardboard, the cats are bound to love it.
22) A Lockdown Mood
Don’t get us wrong, we know just how important it is to be staying inside, but we can’t help but feel the exact same way as this kitty when the period of lockdown is extended yet again. “Bad man!…bad!… get out…get OUT!”

23) When The Restaurants Are Shut And You Have To Cook
What better time is lockdown for learning some new recipes and becoming an amazing cook? We had visions of leaving quarantine with plans for our own Gordon Ramsey style restaurant, but it’s day two and we’ve nearly burnt down the kitchen. Does anyone know if any takeaways are open?
24) The Cat That Doesn’t Give A Damn.
It’s a hard life for a cat when your way of keeping clean basically goes against all the current hygiene guidelines. Cats have their own special way of washing their paws — and it doesn’t involve a tap and running water.
“What if I have to touch my face in order to wash my paw, genius?”

Experts: โWash your paws and donโt touch your face.โ
Ella: โUhhh, no I canโt do that.โ

25) New Hobbies
The best thing about this video is the way that the kitty’s DJ skills cause the otherwise upbeat song to change tempo and sound almost sinister. This seems to sum up our lockdown mood perfectly, and is now the soundtrack to our lives — whether we want it to be or not.

26) When The Working Life Isn’t For You
This cat perfectly summarizes how uncomfortable we feel about working from home. Why is lunchtime now at 3pm and who are these tiny colleagues who keep interrupting us? Also, is a tie really necessary when working from home? We all know that you’re wearing sweatpants underneath, Gerry.
27) Boys And Their Toys
Spare a thought for those who have been furloughed — the ones who can spend from 7 in the morning till 11 at night simply doing whatever they want to do. We can’t help but feel beyond jealous of Ezzy’s current life — what we’d give to play on a 3DS all day!
28) A Lockdown Mood Pt 2
We’ve never seen anything more relatable than this little floof’s extreme reaction to the current coronavirus situation. In fact, this is our exact expression every time we open our news app in the morning. Why do we do it to ourselves?
29) “Tell Me About How You Wanted To Work…”
Once again proving that cats and laptops are a match made in heaven, this little guy is facing a silent stand-off with his owner over laptop rights. The kitty wants food and attention, and he knows that he won’t get that as soon as his owner starts tapping away on his keyboard. So emergency action must be taken.
30) Social Distancing Who?
Everyone deals with lockdown in their own way, and for these cats, they’ve finally decided to show each other affection in the form of cuddles after many years of acting as if they hate each other. Well, they do say that cats always do the opposite of what they’re told to do.
31) All Hail The King
We’re going to have to hand out another one of our Best Owner awards to these guys, who decided to build an actual throne for their spoiled kitty. We’ve never seen a prouder looking cat, but be warned- he is now in charge of the household.
32) “It Wasn’t Us!”
Once again proving that cats are derived from the spawn of Satan, here’s some very innocent-looking kittens sitting amongst a scene of such destruction that our hearts actually ache to look at it.
“That’s what you get for locking us in the bathroom, human.”
33) Lockdown Language
Here we have the political speakers of the kitty world who are all standing up to make a change to the nation. If you won’t listen to a cat inside a castle telling you to stay at home, then who are you going to listen to?
34) “Look At Me, I’m Cute!”
We all know how this goes. Your cat will only be cute with you when they can see that your attention is focused on other important things. As soon as their wish for attention is granted, they’ll go back to doing what they do best — seeing you as a giant form of prey.
35) A Lockdown Wedding
Lockdown can have people reaching new levels of boredom, and with so many weddings sadly being cancelled or rearranged, it seems perfectly logical to have a cat and dog wedding instead. We have to admit, we’ve seen happier weddings. In fact, we’re not sure who looks the most depressed out of the bride and groom. Love is truly a beautiful thing.
36) The Furball Adventures
When you’ve been quarantined in your house with the kids for the last forty-something days, there comes a point where pushing a fur ball round in a child’s toy car seems like the most normal thing to do. We wonder if it has a name?
37) A King And His Castle
When you’ve gone overboard with your unnecessary Amazon purchases, what else are you going to do with all of your boxes? We have to admire the amount of work that’s gone into this piece of art, from the little sign saying ‘Craig’s Cat Castle’ to all of the tunnels, ropes and bottles that make this cardboard fort a cat’s dream come true.
38) Cat Couches Are Now A Thing
We’d love to be the type of owners who are devoted enough to crochet a couch for their beloved cat — but there’s just the small matter of us having absolutely no crocheting skills. Besides, our cat would never sit on it, and that’s a fact.
39) Liquid Cat
We have so many questions about this picture. Firstly, who took a pic of us on Monday morning? Secondly, Which side is the head at? And finally, is this the latest version of the slinky?
40) A Tiny Surprise
When you live with a kitten the size of a banana, how bad can lockdown really be? What a little cutie.
