No matter how comfortable or expensive the bed is that you purchased for your cat, they will always insist on sleeping in the spots that are either 1) dangerous, 2) as uncomfortable as humanely possible, or 3) a combination of both. So when we came across a thread of Twitter showing cats not only sleeping in the middle of the road, but using parking bumpers as pillows, we can’t say we were too surprised.
The thread, which was created by Ijnaoba1927, became a viral sensation on Twitter, with over 1 million likes and over 268k retweets.
Many people shared their own snaps of cats sleeping on parking bumpers, and they’re the most entertaining thing we’ve seen today. We loved them so much that we thought we’d share the ten best ones here for your enjoyment.
1. The chin rest
If, like us, you’re wondering why on earth a cat would decide that a parking bumper is a good place to rest their heads, then wonder no more, because cat behaviorist Ingrid Johnson is here to answer all our questions. According to her, cats use these uncomfortable pillows for – believe it or not – comfort.
“Just like humans, cats are no strangers to seeking out comfort and they may choose to simply rest their head because it is there and easily accessible.” Ingrid told Bored Panda.
2. The body rest
Now this one just doesn’t look comfortable at all. Why are cats like this???
3. Totally chilled-out
The levels of chill in this cat is so high that she almost looks bored. We can’t say we’d be this calm if we were lying on the floor of a parking lot.
4. Do not disturb
How are these cats so chilled out? This little guy looks like he could easily be relaxing in front of the TV with a pint of kitty milk in his hand. Those crossed legs really made us chuckle.
5. What’chu looking at?
Despite the fact that the cat is the one currently leaning up against a parking bumper, we feel strangely judged by this kitty.
6. The comfiest block in the world
This cat appears to be totally zonked out from the world, and the block is a perfect pillow for achieving the ultimate deep sleep.
7. Who needs a cat bed?
After looking at all of these pics, we’re starting to question the soft, fluffy beds that we buy for our cats. Maybe a brick would be a better investment?
8. Do not move me, human.
Who knew that cats love parking blocks so much that even when you’re taking your kitty for a walk, they’ll refuse to part from their beloved block. “Just five more minutes, Mom.”
9. “Nothing to see here…”
Just like us humans, it appears that cats also love a good old armrest. And when there isn’t one around, it’s time to improvise.
10. Sleep tight
After seeing all of these pictures, we think we’re going to have to invest in some concrete pillows for our cats- though knowing them, they’ll still prefer the box that they came in.
