Buddy and Rocky are two sweet cats who haven’t had an easy life. For three years, the cats were kept an unfinished basement with nothing but a water heater for company. In all that time, they most likely never saw the sun.
Thankfully, an animal rescue organization called Purrfect Cat Rescue in Illinois heard about the cats’ plight and went to save them.
The rescue organization brought the cats to their shelter. While Rocky was shy, ginger cat Buddy was cage aggressive when he first got to the shelter. But he soon started to relax and bond with the shelter workers. He absolutely loved cuddling!
“Buddy was cage aggressive to start (he does not like to be restrained) but quickly relaxed and settled in. Once out of the cage, he hasn’t stopped purring, rubbing, and talking!” the shelter wrote on their Facebook page.
Buddy and Rocky spent about two months in the shelter.
During that time, they became friendlier and friendlier with the other cats. They also stayed bonded with each other. The cats loved each other more than anything in the world!
Rocky also started to come out of his shell during this time. The shy cat began cuddling more with the shelter workers.
“They are sooooo grateful and loving. They give so much love!!” the shelter wrote.
Once the cats were ready, Purrfect Cat Rescue began looking for the right forever home for them. They posted adorable photos of the two cats on their Facebook page, including photos of the cats cuddling.
In June 2019, Purrfect Cat Rescue made an exciting announcement: they’d found a forever home for the two bonded cats!
“Congrats to two of our favorite boys! Buddy and Rocky, the two kitties kept in a dark basement for 3 years have gone to their forever home! Our hearts are so happy tonight, they deserve the best! Thank you so much for giving them a new home and a new life!”
Rocky and Buddy aren’t the only cats Purrfect Cat Rescue has saved from dire circumstances.
In July 2017, the rescue saved over 30 cats who were founded abandoned in a decrepit home. The rescue was able to find forever homes for these poor, neglected cats.
In early 2019, the rescue took in two ginger cat siblings with Feline Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a disease that makes cats wobble as they walk. The rescue gave the cats all the love and medical care they needed. Now, the cats are in a loving home with a mom who gives them all the love and care that they deserve.
“So I am happy to say these 2 are fitting into my family without as much as a hiccup. Asti (my sphynx) is having supervised visitation. They are all getting along great. Just had our Easter family get together, everyone is wiped out!” the cats’ mom, Sheryl, wrote on Purrfect Cat Rescue’s Facebook page.
Thanks to Purrfect Cat Rescue, Buddy, Rocky, and many other sweet cats have found wonderful forever homes! If you’d like to learn more about the rescue, check out their Facebook page.
