Since cats can get anywhere from 15-20 hours of sleep per day, you may find them in very interesting places, just to mix things up. Sometimes they fall asleep while playing, eating, or stalking.
These 50 cats were caught catnapping in some very creative spaces that made us smile and wonder exactly how they managed it.
1. Under the dog
It’s warm and cozy, so why not take a nap?
They have quick reflexes, so he can hightail it out of there if the need arises.
2. In the food bowls
To be fair, kittens will fall asleep in a full food dish if they’re sleepy enough, so maybe it’s a good thing they were empty.
3. On the shower rod
They should really market them this way if they want to sell more.
Do we even want to know how the cat got up there?
4. In a yoga box, like a pretzel
We’ve fallen asleep during yoga too, but never in this position.
And perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that a cat found a box to nap in.
5. In the pipes
This is the double shower rod taken to the next level.
It’s clearly a great view, but we’re still confused about the thought process here when it comes to laying down for a nap.
6. In the hanging plant
Cats and houseplants have an interesting relationship.
It’s easy to see how the cat got up there, but is she using it as a hammock, or was she mid-chew when she ran out of gas?
7. In the grill
Was some residual cooking heat what lured it in, or is the cat just a total jerk?
Either way, have fun picking cat hair out of your hamburgers for the rest of the summer.
8. In the printer
Maybe this is who’s using all the cyan ink we keep running out of.
9. On the drying rack
We’re not sure how this could be comfortable, but apparently, it is.
More power to you if you can sleep on hard rods or with half of your body hanging off.
10. In the makeup
Forget makeovers when you can just get your beauty sleep instead.
11. In a plastic cup
We’re always impressed that they manage to get into these without knocking them over.
Even if someone placed the kitten in there, it still decided to make it a bed.
12. On the railing
It looks slippery enough to be hard to walk on. But maybe that’s exactly why the cat is laying on it instead.
13. In the beer
Alas, we think this might have just been a nice, dark hiding spot, and with a little tossing and turning it turned into an increasingly awkward nap.
14. On the banister
Do they really have to sleep in such dangerous places?
What are we thinking? Of course they do!
15. The bathtub
This one is happy to lay back and enjoy the cool porcelain.

16. The handrail
Frankly, this cat looks like we feel on a Monday morning.
17. On the dog
It’s like a warm, fuzzy bed that you get to play with later.
You just have to be careful when it moves.
18. In the tissue box
It’s going to be tough to get a tissue out of there. As a bonus, now there will be cat hair all over it too!
Fun.
19. A cup of kitty
How this little one got in (or out), we don’t know. But we’re impressed at its ability to squeeze in there!
20. In a boot
It looks like this kitty wanted in on the warm, fluffy action for its nap.
Just make sure you check your shoes before you put them on in this house!
21. On top of the door
And falling asleep on top of the door seems like a tall order, comfort-wise.
But we never said cats make sense.
22. In a bowl
They’re more comfortable than they look.
23. In a pocket
And since they’re pretty cute in there, you might as well leave them in.
Just make sure you remember to empty your pockets before you head out of the house.
24. In the lizard tank
We’re not sure how the lizard feels about this, but we bet it’s at least a little annoyed.
25. Between the table and countertop
A place to put their head it all they really need.
Or at least a place to put some part of their body – they don’t seem too picky about which one.

Seeing as how much cats love heat, it’s not all that surprising. But it sure is adorable!
27. On top of a crate
But this kitten doesn’t seem to have anything but a nice, long nap on his mind.
28. In a tree pot
This tree does seem to be growing well though.
Guess that’s what happens when you add the right stuff to your soil.

It’s a pretty sweet sight – and a little bit funny too.

We’re starting to wonder if cats have the same idea of comfort as we do.
Oh, who are we kidding? Of course they don’t.

This cat has expensive taste in beds.
And we thought our cat had pricey habits.

This cat looks pretty content. And at least you don’t have to stick anything in there to keep your boots from bending!
33. In the middle of a rolled-up extension cord
The real curiosity is that there appears to be a pet bed right next to it.
Should we really be surprised though?

Or maybe the cat will wake up and give the bird a piece of its mind.
35. On the roof
Thought this cat seems to have some extra protection since it has largely conformed to the roof tiles.
Can you imagine the backache a human would have after trying this?!

We’re not sure if it fell asleep while trying to unroll it or just found it nice and plush.
37. With its head in an ottoman
But is the ottoman just kept on the porch or did it gets its head stuck and walk outside like this?
38. Under the fruit
Do you think it crawled under there or did its humans pile the fruit on later?
39. Facedown in dinner
It looks like he was trying his best to chow down before he just conked out.
40. In a sandal
They’ll be happy to sleep in whatever shoes you leave around.
Do you think the owner had to wrestle it back from their furry friend?
41. On the towel rack
At least there’s a cushy towel on there.
It looks potentially dangerous, but at least cushy.
42. In the cat grass container
Once the cat grass was dead, it seemed to make a more-than-serviceable bed for this cat.
Looks pretty omfy!
43. Upside down between a pillow and couch
But we’re impressed that this cat didn’t wake up as it slowly turned upside down.

At least it would keep us away from the candy – we wouldn’t want to wake them up!
45. On the stairs, blocking the dogs
his is hilarious.
Cats will lay in the sun until they’re almost too hot to pick up.
But what we love is how afraid and annoyed the dogs look since they “can’t” go down the stairs.
46.In the garden
What a little sun-worshipper!
Praise the sun!
We should all take a note out of this cat’s book this winter and get outside for some Vitamin D.

That does look pretty comfortable, to be honest.
We’re pretty sure this cat sleeps there when there IS someone in the chair as well.
