Cats aren’t dogs. They’re a little more subtle.

To show their appreciation, a dog may come up to you, give you a big lick on the face, and continue to pant or proceed to snuggle.

Cats, on the other hand, have their own methodology.

Although they’re generally not as outgoing as most dogs, some cats know precisely how to express their affections towards their human companions.

And it’s absolutely adorable.

Here’s how cats say “I love you.”

Meet Cole and Marmalade. They’re an adorable feline duo, and they’re going to show us how cats express love. Be warned: there’s an arguably overwhelming amount of cuteness in their lessons.

They both have large green eyes despite completely different coats. According to them, cats have so many subtle and not so subtle ways to express love and companionship! They assert that cats do the following to send their feelings:

“Flop on the floor and expose their belly”

It’s true. Everyone’s seen a cat wriggle on the floor for attention.

Just take a look at Cole. He’d absolutely love a belly rub right about now.

“Purring”

Cats purr when they’re comfortable with their environments. Purring can communicate a plethora of different emotions, including calmness and happiness.

I mean just look at Marmalade.

In comes the purring trance. Those eyes… they’re so adorable!

There’s absolutely no way to resist that kind of cute.

Up next,

“Head bonks!”

Yes, head bonks! Apparently some cats will go out of their way to give humans a loving little head bump as a means of appreciation.

Cole’s a huge fan.

“Scratching your chair to gain ownership of you!”

Leather owners beware. The implication here is that some cats mark their territory specifically where you spend a lot of your time (the desk in this case) as a sign of affection.

After scratching up the headrest of Human Friend’s leather desk chair, Marmalade hops atop his shoulder.

Ain’t no thang. It’s the thought that counts.

“They groom you!”

Marmalade moves forward, licking Human Friend on the head. She’s trying to groom her friend, and it’s absolutely adorable!

Human Companion turns to the camera, letting out a sly smile as Marmalade continues.

This is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen!

“They leave you gifts…”

Wow, gifts are nice. Human Friend wakes up in the morning to a green beanbag placed on the free space of his pillow. Camera footage reveals that one of the cats sneaked out in the middle of the night.

And honestly, Human Friend doesn’t like sleeping alone. He’s missing his feline friend that he usually wakes up to.

The beanbag just doesn’t cut it.

Cole comes up and takes a much-needed nap right on his chest.

Ahhhh, that’s better. Everything’s right in the world again.

“Love bites!”

Cats often playfully nibble when they’re comfortable. It can be rather endearing.

Cole sends some more love with a soft bite.

“But it isn’t always free!”

Love’s certainly not easy! The group sets up a kissing booth, but kisses don’t come cheap!

Human Companion gives 25 cents for some love from Marmalade.

She delivers, wholeheartedly.

It’s not easy for cats to say “I love you.” I mean, they don’t even speak English! But they do have their own incredibly adorable, endearing ways of expressing their affection.

Did you know that cats could be so loving? If you’re a cat owner, you’re probably used to it. Even though they can’t technically speak English (or any human language, for that matter), they certainly know how to say, “I love you.”
