When Louie and Luna made their way into STAR Rescue in Gainesville, GL, they were both pretty lonely. But once they met, they instantly became friends and decided they wouldn’t let each other go.

Now they do just about everything together and especially love to snuggle and give each other kisses.

“Luna is a brown and orange Maine Coon and Louie is an orange tabby,” their new owner James told Love Meow. “When we adopted them, they were extremely close off the bat. They liked each other more than they liked us.”

James and his girlfriend had stopped by the shelter looking to adopt a dog, however, they were smitten by the two lovebug kittens.

“We went in looking for a dog but we live in an apartment and both work full-time jobs that keep us away from home a lot and dogs require a lot more attention,” James said. “So we decided that getting a cat would be the better route because I’ve had cats my whole life and I knew what it took to house one and everything.”

James’ girlfriend absolutely fell in love with the two cats, especially Luna, so they returned to the shelter two weeks later.

They had only planned to adopt one cat and decided to adopt Luna but they just couldn’t leave Louie behind.

So, they took both of the cuddle buddies home with them and decided that they would foster Louie until Luna’s companion was adopted too. But that didn’t last long and they ended up permanently adopting Louie.

“We couldn’t let go of Louie after seeing how ‘at home’ they both were together,” James said. “They love to take care of each other and nap together. They do everything together.”

James says his kitties are really grateful to be together in a forever home for the holidays.

“Rescue cats are more appreciative of their adoptive owners, especially the ones that have been in shelters for extended amounts of time,” James explained. “They’ve spent the past few days just laying around our Christmas tree.”

They were also spotted giving each other lots of kitty kisses.

“Your cats are precious and I wish them a happy life,” said one Twitter commenter. “Please give them a pet for me.”

The internet completely fell in love with these cats and photos of the two lovebirds ended up going viral and retweeted more than 54,000 times.
