Can you remember who walked you to school when you were a kid?

Most of you would probably say your mom, dad, or older sibling. It’s the usual setup, especially if all it takes is to walk you down the bus stop. Not that it’s bad, but this kid in Co Cavan, Ireland, probably has something cooler than that.

Ursula Small took a video of their morning routine, and people fell in love with it. It’s amazing how the bond between her daughter and their cat and this wholesome moment proved how strong that bond is.

We mostly see this behavior among dogs, but cats also love strolling with their humans.

One commenter on this video said that cats are much more intelligent than humans give them credit for. Cats lie around the home most of the time and would only want to go out to “hunt” some birds they see. But cats also love the downtime, and we bet Aspen would agree.

Ursula shared that the two would often take this walk up the road on a school day.

She told Storyful that Aspen would look for all the cues each morning. Whenever he saw Croiadh putting on her coat, he would follow her to the hall and wait patiently for her to open the door. The moment she opens it up, off goes Aspen – a few steps ahead of their morning routine.

It’s cute how he always walks beside Croiadh.

He trots slowly beside her, sometimes speeding up when he gets too excited. Then, he slows down when Croiadh falls a bit behind. It’s heartwarming to see that they take thing not-so-short walk in the morning and spend time together before the bus arrives.

Aspen also hops on the concrete and perch on it to get a goodbye pet from his hooman.

Ursula said she walks her daughter home, but it was much sweeter to see that Aspens goes with them. She also said their other cat would occasionally follow them, but Aspen consistently does so.

There is only one reason why Aspen can’t go: when it’s raining!

Rainy school mornings are what bums Aspen, knowing that he can’t talk Croiadh to the bus stop. He just hopes the rain will stop by the time his little human comes home or it won’t rain the following day.

This video captured the hearts of many YouTube followers.

Some even shared how their cats would do the same for their kids. Their shared stories show the range of energy their cats have – from simply walking them down the bus stop to eagerly waiting and being playful when the kids arrive. Some even said that the other kids on the bus have grown to love seeing their cats by the bus stop.

It’s a common misconception that cats are not as affectionate as they really are.

They show that in different ways, like purring, grooming you, slowly blinking at you, and hanging out with you. And, yes, walking down to the bus stop with you is sort of hanging out. That’s how much they show their love and care for you – as Aspen does for Croiadh.
