Anyone who owns a cat will probably be painfully aware of the fact that they have a favorite chair — and if they do, then don’t even try to sit on it when your cat wants to. Ironically, it often seems like your cat will claim your favorite chair as their own, which can be annoying when it’s the one that you sit on the most often (cat fur on black jeans isn’t the best look).
But there’s actually a really sweet reason for why cats have a favorite chair, and why this chair is often the one that you sit on the most. Apparently, cats will sit on your chair because it has your scent on it, and this makes them feel safe and protected. They may then become possessive of the chair and not let you sit on it — though ironically the more you sit on it, the more your scent will rub off onto there.
This was the case for one sweet kitty from Japan named Yoshitsune, and when her owner sat on her chair, she had a hilarious way of trying to get them off again!
Yoshitsune is a very sweet kitty. At five years old, she enjoys being petted and loves her owners a lot — but not when they’re sitting on her chair. When this happens, she must get them off, in any way possible.
Twitter user yoshi___ben posted the pics of her kitty onto her profile, and the post instantly went viral with more than 200k likes and 50k shares. People couldn’t get enough of her little indignant face as she tries with all her might to push her owner off the chair with her tiny paw.
The first snap shows Yoshitsune standing upright on the chair, with one paw tucked over the back for support. Hilariously, her other paw is pushed firmly into the back of her owner, and her message couldn’t be clearer: “Get off the chair — it’s mine!”
She’s glaring at the person taking the pic as if to say, “You tell them to get off, I want my chair back!”
This picture is so funny because the cat is almost acting like a human would as she tries to claim back her chair. Is anyone else taken back to childhood squabbles with your siblings when you fought over who got to ride shotgun? Just us? Okay…
In the next snap, the stubborn kitty has her mouth wide open in frustration. She’s been pushing her owner’s back for a good few minutes now and they still haven’t moved. How rude of them! She just wants her chair back. Not that she wants to sit on it or anything. She just wants it to be free in case she wants to sit on it.
Finally, Yoshitsune’s wish is granted and she gets her chair back. She jumps up and sits on it, just for the sake of it really. She wasn’t actually in a sitting mood. But now that it’s free, she’s going to make sure that her owner doesn’t sit on it again!
