Theft is usually a crime we associate with humans, not animals. Pets are mostly guilty of chewing through a pair of slippers, pooping, or being too cute.
There’s also some pretty cheeky monkeys in South East Asia who steal food from tourists… but cats? Surely they’re too lazy to steal.
Well not this little fella. This furry kleptomaniac got himself into so much trouble with his sticky paws, that his owner had to create a special Facebook group to get all the items returned.
What items couldn’t he stop snatching? The neighbor’s shoes.
Jordan, a six-pound black and white feline in Altoona, Pennsylvania has a habit of venturing into the night, and returning with a different pair of shoes every morning. Most cats come back with a mouse they’ve hunted as a gift. In some ways, shoes are better.
But Jordan’s owner, BJ Ross, caught him red-pawed, and turned to social media to make it all right. He created a community Facebook group and added as many people from his neighborhood as he could, trying to spread the word.
“If y’all know my cat Jordan, y’all know he loves to bring me home shoes!”
Jordan has nabbed more than fifty shoes! Most of them pairs, which I’m not going to lie, is pretty impressive.
You can tell he’s pretty proud of his collection.
As he’s only able to carry one shoe at a time, he’s forced to take multiple trips in order to complete a pair.
That’s a lot of dedication and I think he should be pardoned by the Supreme Court for his crimes. He’s just trying to bring home presents to his mama! Or maybe he doesn’t like BJ’s taste in shoes?
Hilariously, BJ had the genius idea to put a GPS tracker on Jordan’s collar so it would be easier to track down who had become a victim to his theft over night.
I am screaming, this cat has been everywhere!
It helps that he spends most of his days napping, so he can cover maximum ground on the prowl at night.
According to BJ, Jordan covered 26 miles over the course of three days! I guess it’s true what they say – there ain’t no rest for the wicked.
BJ also installed a camera in her backyard, which has some very incriminating evidence of Jordan caught in the act.
“I saw him jump over the fence, carrying the shoe, dropping it, and then kinda look around like ‘did anybody see me?’. I don’t know if wants recognition, or if he’s just trying to be sneaky.”
Can we all agree cats look terrifying on night vision cameras?
Jordan is the most loveable criminal in the United States right now, and his Facebook group has grown far beyond his neighborhood. It already has more than 15k members!
His fans can even purchase special merch, and BJ is keeping a world map with a pin for every place a fan lives.
So far they’ve collected pins from countries all over the world, including Portugal, Brazil, Italy, and Singapore… just to name a few.
If you’re from somewhere unique (ie. not the immediate Pennsylvania region, those are all taken) go have your pin added to the map!
He even has fans so dedicated to his shenanigans, that they’ve sent fan art his way. Pretty incredible!
This is what the little guy looked like before he went down the wrong path, and chose a life of crime.
Such an innocent, misleading face. Deep down he’s probably already thinking about shoes.
