I think we've ALL experienced this at one point or another!

School can be a drag. Sure, we learn a ton of useful information and gain valuable skills— but student life can be rough. I’m talking all-night study sessions, co-ed bathrooms, and morning classes at the break of dawn (generally following a long night of drinking, of course). These challenges are all in addition to studying, keeping good grades, and paying attention in class. Some days, the latter can be easier than others, especially if you’re lacking sleep or faced with a boring professor. Still, however, education is a great opportunity— one that many people (and cats!) have been taking advantage of.

Last year, a cat from Malaysia went completely viral after it was snapped dozing off during a lecture at the International Islamic University of Malaysia.

By all accounts, the chubby grey kitty simply wandered through the classroom’s door. He then parked himself at an empty computer station and began listening to the professor’s lecture. Twenty-one-year-old student Nur Elynna Binti Mohammed Shaharul Hashri was attending the same class as the curious kitty and decided to take a picture.

It’s unclear whether the college cat was recuperating after a long night of partying or simply bored by the professor’s neverending lecture. Whatever the, the furry little student had cozied up on the table and fallen asleep within 30 minutes flat. Hashri then took another photo of the cat, and when she uploaded it to Twitter, it immediately went viral.

College and universities students around the world related to the cat’s initial enthusiasm and subsequent boredom during his class. Memes and jokes were soon to follow.

Students at the university aren’t sure who owns the cat, but he often comes to campus to hang out with his fellow students. After everything was said and done, Hashi told BuzzFeed News that the grey cat got to enjoy his little snooze.

“The other students and teachers found it really amusing too but we just left the cat… It did not disturb the flow of our lesson.”
