Love them or hate them, cats have personalities. They can be playful, grumpy, cuddly, even sad or angry! Most of the time, we tend to think of cats as opportunists who cozy up to humans in exchange for food and safety and are less attached to their owners than dogs.

If you thought cats can’t be heroes, think again!

Our feline friends may sometimes be less friendly than dogs, but they still love their owners and are prepared to defend them if necessary! There have been numerous cases of cats who surprised humans with selfless acts of heroism.

We heard of cats hissing at bullies, saving a 4-year-old from a neighbor’s dog, and keeping an abandoned baby safe, and meowing to attract attention and call for help!

An 85-year-old and his cat, Fluffy share a special bond

Ron Williams and Fluffy met last year, neither could suspect that they would eventually share a strong bond, usually not shared even between humans. Fluffy was brought to Ron by a friend, to keep him company. It was a match made in heaven!

“I looked at him and hey, I just fell in love with him,” said Williams.

Ron and Fluffy quickly became best friends

Fluffy was more than company to Ron, the boy cat understood him perfectly and they talked a lot.

“The phone would ring, and I would say ‘ring-a-ding,’” said Ron. “And I didn’t know he’d pick up on it.”

It seemed as if nothing could disrupt their idyl but one day, Ron, who turned 85 last September, slipped and fell in the shower. He got hurt and couldn’t move as a result.

Ron lay helpless on the bathroom floor for an entire day

“My arm was pinned under me, and the hours kept going by,” said Ron. “16 hours…” Ron explained.

With no help in sight, Ron lay helplessly on the bathroom floor. He could not reach his Life Alert as he left it in the other room and the bathroom door was closed. To make things worse, he could not reach his phone either. It was on the counter but too far for him to get.

It certainly didn’t bode well for Ron, alone and hurt.

At the crucial moment, Ron’s furry friend came to the rescue, proving once and for all that cats can be heroes!

Almost overcome by desperation, Ron suddenly thought of Fluffy, who was in the room next to the bathroom. He then recalled how he trained Fluffy to pick up the phone when he’d say ‘ring-a-ding’.

It proved to be a life-saving moment!

“So I said ‘ring-a-ding fluffy. You’re my only hope,’” Ron said and couldn’t hold back tears. “And he was. It wasn’t even five minutes later I felt something hit my hand. And I’m here because of it.”

A U.S Army Veteran, Ron owes his life to Fluffy, who was there for him at his toughest moment

Thanks to Fluffly, Ron is now fine and got out with only minor bruises and bumps. If it hadn’t been for Fluffy, Ron probably wouldn’t have made it.

“I relive it a million times. What if he wouldn’t have been in there with me? I’d be dead today,” he said.

Ron, a US Army Veteran, has an unlikely hero to thank for his lucky escape.

“He’s my hero, and he always will be,” said Ron. “He’ll never be away from me until the day I die.”

Even though Fluffy is only a little kitten, he has a big heart and did not hesitate to help his friend and companion, with whom he’s now inseparable! Their story is truly heartwarming!
