Meet Honeycake: a sweet ginger cat who loves cuddling more than anything.
Poor Honeycake had a very rough start to life. When he was a kitten, Honeycake’s owner put him and his two siblings in a garbage bag. Then, Honeycake’s owner threw the garbage bag out of a moving car. Thankfully, a good Samaritan saw this happen and quickly came to the cats’ aid. She took the three kittens over to a local shelter for treatment.
Honeycake sat at the shelter, waiting to get adopted. Nobody put in an application to adopt the cat, and unfortunately, the shelter was a kill shelter. If Honeycake wasn’t adopted soon, he would be put down.
Animal rescue group Michigan Cat Rescue heard about Honeycake, and they decided to rescue him. They put the sweet cat in their non-kill shelter and started looking for the right forever home for him.
A few months after Michigan Cat Rescue rescued Honeycake, a nurse named Renee came to meet him. Honeycake and Renee quickly bonded, and Renee decided that she wanted to bring the cat home with her!
Honeycake was so excited to learn he was going home with Renee. He couldn’t stop licking and hugging her.
“Today, Honeycake starts his new life with a SPECIAL person named Renee. Renee is a very nice woman and she said from now on, Honeycake (renamed Finnegan) will receive nothing but lots of love and kisses,” Michigan Cat Rescue wrote on Facebook.
The rescue group also posted an adorable video of Honeycake/Finnegan on their Facebook page. The video shows how much Finnegan loves his new mom!
“Yep I’m in love,” Renee says as Finnegan licks her hand. “It doesn’t make much to get me in love.”
Finnegan has now been with Renee for over two years, and the pair are still as happy as can be.
This sweet boy still loves cuddling with his mom more than anything. He has found a wonderful place to call home!
Michigan Cat Rescue has also helped many other cats like Finnegan find good homes.
At the beginning of March 2019, the group shared that a cat named Hennie had found her forever home. Like Finnegan, the cat had been abandoned in a high-kill shelter, and the rescue group saved her before she could be put down. Now, the cat has found a home with a family who loves her more than anything!
Michigan Cat Rescue also found great owners for a ginger cat named Sweet Potato. The cat was four years old and weighed 15 pounds when he arrived at the rescue. Many people said he was too old and too big to find a forever home, but in the end, the rescue group found the right owners for the cat.
Over the past 16 years, Michigan Cat Rescue has done an amazing job finding homes for cats like Honeycake/Finnegan. If you want to learn more about the organization, check out their Facebook page.
