Santi and Indy are two adorable house cats who don’t always get along so well. But when life gives you a common enemy, it works wonders in bringing people (and apparently, animals) together.
This Roomba, the famous floor cleaning robot, is something these two kitties have in common. It freaks them both out!
It’s hilarious to watch the duo follow the machine around the room, intrigued, but also terrified.
We can see Santi, the white cat, taking just a little bit of pleasure in watching his brother, Indy get chased into a corner by the rogue vacuum.
I won’t lie, I think it’s pretty funny too.
Somehow it’s always Indy who gets the worst of it. But he’s just too curious and can’t seem to leave the thing alone!
You can see him jumping all over the living room and acting shocked every time the Roomba comes his way.
Learn from your mistakes little guy! Run the other direction!
Every time he gets away he’s immediately like, “you know what? I’m ready to be hurt again” and goes sniffing around the scary machine.
I guess it’s true what they say… curiosity really does kill the cat! Figuratively, at least.
He can’t even stretch out on the floor without the vacuum finding him to cause him some grief.
We’re sure the robots haven’t learned how to think independently yet? They’re not ready and plotting to take over the world… right?
It certainly doesn’t seem that way to little Indy.
Roombas just chase whatever dirt particles they’re programmed to recognize on the floor. Their sensors pick up the presence of any dirt, and follow it to clean it up.
Maybe it’s the cat fur, but it does seem to be leading the vacuum towards Indy more than usual!
The absolute highlight of the video, the piece that made me laugh out loud, is when the Roomba comes after Indy as he’s minding his own business on the floor in front of a chair.
The Roomba turns to face him and goes charging, full speed ahead, sweeping the little kitty under the chair against his will!
Poor little Indy has to scramble against the hardwood flooring to try and hold his own against the rogue vacuum.
Once he fights the machine off and sends it in the other direction, he looks directly at his owner behind the camera, as if to say “did you see that?!”.
His owner is wheezing with laughter, and honestly, same.
She runs over for some comforting and petting after her harrowing show down with the floor cleaning robot.
“How could you let it do that to me, Dad!?”
As an apology for the Roomba’s behavior (and, let’s be real, for the laughs) Indy’s owner tries a little experiment.
He places a bowl of cat food on top of the robot to see if that can convince either of the cats to go near it again.
You can see both Indy and Santi following the vacuum around and trying to gage if it’s worth facing the beast for some delicious cat food.
Their owner is laughing hysterically again, which makes the whole scene even funnier.
Santi comes to his senses and decides to wait until dinner time.
He prefers a bowl that isn’t moving on a terrorizing machine. He casually saunters off.
But not Indy! He’s a fan of snacks, and finds a way to get his front paws up on the vacuum and keep up with it by walking his back paws while he chows down.
I admire his perseverance! Snacks over everything!
Cats are usually so graceful, but watching Indy stumble around half-on and half-off the Roomba is… well, not so graceful.
But he does a pretty good job of keeping his balance and footing honestly. It’s getting the job done, he’s getting his food.
Eventually both of them decide they need a break and take to high ground where they’re safe.
They’ll be ready to fight another day again soon, I’m sure!
