Meet Quincy. Some people might call “quirky.” That’s because he has very peculiar tastes.
Specifically, a cardboard cutout of actor Danny DeVito. You probably have a lot of questions.
So, did we. How does a cat come across a cardboard cutout of Danny DeVito?

And why he is so obsessed with it? Well, it’s a funny story.
But we still can’t answer that last question.
Quincy’s mom, who goes by radtoria on Twitter, bought the likeness of DeVito as a joke gift for her boyfriend.

It also served another very special purpose.
She figured that it would give people a good chuckle when they passed by their house.
Something desperately needed while people are under quarantine due to the coronavirus.

But Quincy’s mom had no idea that Quincy would be completely smitten by the cardboard cutout.
She learned about Quincy’s affection for DeVito when she found him cuddling with it.
“I started putting it in the window to spice up our neighbors’ walks. Then I’d take it down at night to close the blinds,” radtoria told The Dodo. “Time and time again, I’d wake up to find Quincy snuggling with it.”

She assumed that Quincy would end up destroying the cutout by clawing it up.
Cardboard is perfect for cats to sink their claws into.
It’s actually used to make some cat scratch pads.

But Quincy has taken great care not to mess up his new friend.
In fact, he doesn’t really play with it at all.
He just likes to spend time with it.

His mom calls it his “special toy.”
“He’s very gentle with it. He never bites it. He never roughhouses with it. It’s like he sees it as a special toy,” radtoria said.

And don’t even think of trying to separate Quincy from his cardboard DeVito.
“If I try to remove it from him (which I don’t bother with anymore), he just extends his paws over it and gives a ‘don’t mess with me’ kind of look.”

Now Quincy always spends his nap times with DeVito.
The hilariousness of it never gets old for his mom.
She still just can’t wrap his mind around why he’s so attached to the cardboard male celebrity. Especially when he has so many other toys he can play with.

“I still laugh about it. It’s just such a strange surreal thing,” radtoria said. “He has so many toys! Why this?”
She may never get an answer but she is glad that Quincy has something that he loves as much as Quincy loves her.
“He’s the sweetest cat I’ve ever had the pleasure to know,” radtoria said. “We’re grateful that he has another outlet for his snuggles.”

Quincy’s mom isn’t the only one getting a kick out of Quincy’s quirk.
Quincy’s mom posted a video of Quincy cozying up to the cutout on Twitter where it went viral. More than 49,000 people liked the video.
“This is incredible,” wrote one Tweeter.
“This is by far the best thing I’ve seen today. And I’ve seen some things, man,” another wrote.

Some guessed that Quincy perhaps could have had someone who resembles DeVito in his past.
Though he is a rescue, his mom said he’s had him for about 12 years. Others asked if she sprayed something on it to attract the cat.
“It hasn’t been sprayed with anything. He’s just always been a weird cat,” radtoria explained.
