Cats and rodents don’t have the best relationships. We all know how much felines love to chase the small, scurrying creatures. And most cat owners have been the unlucky recipients of their kitty’s thoughtful rodent gifts. In fact, back in ancient Egypt, cats were originally valued for their ability to gobble up rodents that got into village grain bins. But, as we say about humans, it’s unfair to paint all cats with the same brush! Some cats don’t mind making friends with any creatures that pass by. Rodent or not, they will immediately be up in your face with cuddles and purrs. This is one of those cats.

In a heartwarming photo series uploaded by reddit user _GoldGuy_, you get the rare opportunity to see a kitty befriending a chipmunk firsthand.

The little chipmunk had just been scurrying along, exploring the scenery, when it comes across a giant, fluffy grey cat. The little chipmunk wasn’t sure what to make of its new friend— its tail alone was nearly three times his size!

The fluffy kitty didn’t want to scare his new buddy though, so he layed down to show that he’s friendly.

This isn’t the first time a kitty and rodent have bonded. Check out the amazing video below. It shows the story of a cat that took in a squirrel and taught it how to purr.
