A viral video of cat’s reaction to new family dog has resurfaced, and people continue having mixed reactions.
Two years ago, the owner of Cato the cat shared a video on YouTube, which went viral, accumulating over 2 million views.
“This is how Cato, our cat expressed his feelings about us bringing a new dog into the family. This is when he sees my husband walk the new dog up to the front door for the first time! Needless to say, he is FURIOUS!”
In the video, Cato shrieks and hisses in protest as the new family dog comes closer and closer to the house. At one point in time, the cat even turns to face his owner as if to speak directly to her about his protest to the new family dog.
People responded to the video with very mixed responses.
Unfortunately for Cato’s owners, the video received a pretty even number of positive and negative reactions. The owners received such an overwhelming number of negative comments, they posted an update in the comment’s section.
“For those of you who were concerned for Cato’s well being, you can relax. We adore our cat, and are very experienced with animals. All we did was let the cat see the dog through the window the first time. They weren’t introduced until MUCH later. Things are obviously a lot better! You just need to trust me that my cat is FINE! He’s just bossy and territorial. The dog is beautifully submissive, kind and quiet around him, exactly why we chose her. So just relax! He is just a very vocal cat, which is why this is funny. This is also not his first experience with dogs. Wish I could post a follow up photo of them co-existing, albeit angrily. But, may have to post some more footage of Cato’s daily stand-offs with her!”
Cato’s owner took to the comment section once more to provide another update regarding the cat and dog.
“There is an update, the cat is still angry, Zoey is still desperate to play with him! It’s on my channel, ‘cat still furious at new family dog who desperately wants to be friends.’ For those of you who wanted to see more!”
In the second video, Cato’s owner provided a detailed update on the relationship between the cat and dog in the description.
“The saga and drama continues as our sweet new pup Zoey desperately wants to befriend and play with nine-year-old Cato, who is continually incensed by her presence in the house. Cato is not one to back down or share his house easily, he stands his ground and considers her affections futile. Meanwhile, sweet Zoey optimistically hopes that perhaps he will come round!!”
The second video also received mixed responses.
Some criticized the owners for “not caring about what the cat wants.” Others found the video hilarious and begged the owners to publish additional videos of the duo. The second video did not receive nearly the attention of the first video, with merely 8,000 views.
The owners never offered additional updates on the duo.
Unfortunately for those interested in continuing to follow the relationship between the cat and dog, the owners never posted any additional videos or updates.
