Cat Mysteriously Loves The Library - Library Bans Him, But Internet Won't Have It
Let max in the library!

Have you ever met a cat who loved books? A cat named Max living in St. Paul, Minnesota, loves books so much that he wants to live in the local library. He kept escaping his yard and finding his way to the library, where he would beg to be let in. Max would hang out by the door for as long as it took until someone let him. It usually wasn’t very long.

Who could say no to a cat that was so adorable?

Max loved to walk around in the library and brush up against readers and bookshelves. Sometimes, he even liked to mark his territory. The library would contact his owners, who would take Max home, but then he would come back the next day. It seemed like Max just thought he belonged in the library.

Things got so bad that the library had to put a sign on the door to stop people from letting Max inside. Max wasn’t happy, and neither was the rest of the world. As soon as someone tweeted a photo of the sign made to keep Max out of the library, the internet jumped to his defense. If Max loved the library so much, why couldn’t he go in?

Maybe it was because he didn’t have a library card? Someone on Twitter took care of that for him.

Or, did Max want to be in the library because he was hoping to become the topic of a book? Maybe he was hoping the library-goers would notice how charming and attractive he was and decide to turn him into an illustration. That worked out for him, too.

Max may have been kicked out of the library, but he found his way into the hearts of thousands of people.

It seems like everyone is on Max’s side and just can’t understand why the library would want to kick out the cat.

Wouldn’t a librarian who spends so much time with books and quiet people enjoy the company of a cat? Sure, he had a few issues, but at least he wasn’t noisy. He wasn’t disrupting the readers, tearing up the books, or darting around the building. He was just happy to get a casual pet or a friendly glance. He simply wanted to be around people who love books as much as himself.

At least this is one battle that Max won’t have to fight on his own.

The library and his owners may be pushing to keep Max out, but everyone on the internet is working to get Max back inside the library.

One person has even made decals and stickers to pass out to anyone who wants them in hope that it will raise awareness of Max’s problem and maybe even convince the library to allow him back inside. Of course, not everyone supports Max’s fight. Believe it or not, there are actually people who don’t think it’s a good idea to allow a cat to be in a library.

If cats are allowed in libraries, why not dogs?

Or even alligators? Libraries could very well turn into pet stores. What about people with allergies? What about people who just don’t like cats? Aren’t libraries for people, not pets?

It looks like Max has a long fight ahead of him, but the good thing is, he has a lot of support. Will Max ever been allowed back in the library again? It’s hard to say. Maybe he will get lucky one day and someone will leave the door open, so he can sneak in and enjoy his favorite place.
