Anyone who owns a cat or has ever been around one knows that they don’t answer to anyone and they basically do what they want.

They understand when they are in trouble and know what they are and aren’t allowed to do, but they just don’t care. Cats are strong-willed and just don’t care about the feelings of the people who feed them and give them shelter.

One cat recently decided that it deserved to be the star of the show and had no problem replacing baby Jesus in a local nativity scene.

A passerby noticed the cat sitting in the manger like it belonged there and snapped a few photos of it. Of course, the cat was probably just trying to get comfortable, but there is something about these photos that perfectly describe how cats feel about themselves.

Even though he does appear to be a little grumpy, he seems to be completely comfortable in his new bed. Maybe this is his way of trying to get into the Christmas spirit. At least he put a smile on the faces of a lot of humans and spread some holiday cheer in the process.

Apparently, this isn’t the first run-in a tabby cat has had with a manger.

In fact, according to one Facebook user, there was a tabby cat at the first nativity. She said:

“There is a legend on why tabby cats have a M shaped mark on their foreheads. Supposedly it was a purring tabby that soothed a baby Jesus to sleep and Mary blessed all tabbies by placing the letter M on their foreheads, so this pic reminds me of that beautiful legend.”

Other people shared photos of other cats curled up in manger scenes in the comment section of the post.

Some even had photos of other pets sharing in the fun. What is it about nativities that pets find so interesting?

Even though some of the cats were bigger than the nativities, it still didn’t stop them from getting comfortable and making the most of the holiday decorations. This cat wasn’t about to let the nativity take over its favorite napping spot.

One person even caught her cat contemplating his placement in the nativity.

He noticed the new decoration in the yard and had to investigate it. I mean you can’t put something in a cat’s yard and expect him not to be curious about it, right? Apparently, he approved, because it is still standing.

Cats are naturally curious and a little entitled.

They can be loving and caring, but only when they choose to be. So why do we all love cats so much? Is it because we admire their sassy attitudes and abilities to do what they want? Cats do what they want, and these cats proved that if they want to be the baby Jesus for a night, then they will do just that.

If a cat can find a way to squeeze into a space, they will do it. If that space is soft, dark, and full of things to play with, that’s even better. When it comes to their homes, they get to say what stays and what goes, and if they don’t approve of it, they will tear it up. At least these cat owners don’t have to worry about the cats tearing up their Christmas decorations, they just want to be a part of them.

If you were worried about your cat climbing in your tree this Christmas or pulling down your Christmas lights, now you have something new to worry about.

You might just walk out to find a cat laying in the manger of your nativity scene. Don’t worry, it won’t last long. That cat will move on to something else. Hopefully, it will be as adorable as the cat in the manger.
