Did you know that the phrase ‘cat burglar’ actually originated back in the 20th century? It was a nickname given to a thief in London named Arthur Young who was very good at climbing up the sides of buildings and sneaking into homes through windows.

The term later spread across the Atlantic and became quite a common phrase for describing sneaky, agile thieves.

Well, a cat burglar is also the star of this story, but unlike Arthur Young, he’s an actual cat, caught red-pawed stealing the neighbors’ laundry!

The cat in question is named Admiral Galacticat, which is just about the coolest cat name we’ve heard in quite a while. He seemed like quite an innocent and well-behaved boy for much of his life and was kept indoors by his owner, Heather Bardi, in Metairie Louisiana.

However, when the coronavirus crisis began, Admiral Galacticat seemed to get a little bored of being indoors all the time and asked to be let out.

Little did his owners know that this sneaky feline was actually spending his backyard time snatching clothes from a neigbor’s laundry room!

Heather and her family were surprised to notice clothes start piling up on their porch. First, they found a tank top and a couple of socks. The next day, some boxers and an old dish rag were spotted outside, and in the days that followed, more and more of these random clothing items and accessories began piling up.

The clothes seemed clean. In fact, it seemed like they’d only just been washed and dried, and Heather just couldn’t understand what was going on.

She and her family first assumed that maybe some drunk guy had tossed a few clothes outside one night, but when the situation kept repeating itself, they started to get worried.

They even got the police involved, calling up and filing a report about the unexpected clothing deliveries. And as time went by, they became more desperate to get to the bottom of it all!

They set up some security cameras around the porch to try and film whoever it was leaving all those socks and boxers outside.

When watching back some of the footage, they were astonished to see their very own Admiral Galacticat strolling up outside with some more boxers dangling from his mouth.

Having finally figured out the mystery, Heather went and wrote a big post on a local Facebook group, hoping that her neighbors would see it and someone would come forward to collect their missing clothes.

She included some snaps of the various items that had turned up outside, along with a freeze-frame from one of her security cameras showing the furry thief in action!

A local man named Casey O’Neal saw the post and recognized the clothes as his own, realizing that the cat had been sneaking into his laundry room. Casey has since recovered his clothes and plans to secure the door, but he doesn’t bear a grudge against the cat, and everyone in the local community has got a good laugh out of this funny story!
