Kitty Smells Friend's Butt And Gets Unexpected "Surprise"
I think the reaction speaks for itself...

Animals can have some odd behaviors. One of the weirdest is their tendency to sniff each other’s butts. As humans, this isn’t something we do. Instead of sticking our nose in someone’s butthole, we prefer a nice handshake or hello. Still, in the animal world, cats can learn a lot about each other by inhaling the odors of bum.

In this video, one cat has the most hilarious reaction after smelling something “unexpected” while sniffing his friend’s butt.

As mentioned, animals can learn a lot by sniffing each other’s bums. According to Pet Place, cats have forty times more smell cells than humans. This means that their sense of smell is impecabble— and they can even recognize if a cat that was previously in the same room was stressed, scared or in heat.

In addition to cats’ wicked sense of smell, their bums also have special anal glands which release strong-smelling secretions. Couple cats’ amazing sense of smell with the naturally strong smelling bums of their peers— and suddenly their tendency for butthole diving makes a lot more sense.

The video, uploaded to YouTube in November of 2016, shows a curious tabby cat looking for information (of some sort) in his furry friend’s bum. At first, the friend seems okay with it— but then he delivers a message LOUD and CLEAR.

As the 20-second clip begins, you see a tabby forcefully shoving his face into the black-and-white bum of his friend. “What are you sniffing there Big Daddy?” his owner asks, letting out a giggle as the tabby continues searching for the secrets of life that are hidden in his pal’s behind.

Because sniffing each other’s bums is a regular part of feline behavior, experts say you probably shouldn’t disturb them. “Interrupting this behavior is equivalent to you stopping a friend from shaking hands with someone they are meeting,” Pet Place explains. “It can annoy or upset the friend.”

At one point, kitty friend lets out, what most people assume is, a stanky smelling fart— and the poor little tabby’s hilarious expression speaks entirely for itself.

Some critics say the friend didn’t really fart— that the tabby was just using the Jacobson’s Organ, a special smell organ that lies close to the nasal bones, to get a better sniff. Basically, they’re telling you that this cat wanted to take all of the butt smell in.

“That’s not a fart, the cat opens its mouth because he’s attracted to the pheromones of the other cat.”

“Cats don’t do this because they don’t like the smell of something. This happens when they are intrigued by what they are smelling; their mouths open so they can take in more of the scent.”

“That’s the Flehmen response, they do it to pull pheromones up into the Jacobson’s organ.”

“That cat isn’t smelling the other cat’s fart that is probably a female in heat.”

We’ll let you judge for yourself…
