We’ve all heard the saying “fight like cats and dogs,” and most people would think it quite sensible to keep their beloved cat away from a dog, or vice versa.
But contrary to popular belief, this brother and sister seem keen to prove that cats and dogs can actually get along splendidly!
Meet Bella, a sweet little gray cat who lives with her owner Gabrielle and her brother, a German Shepherd adorably named Butta.
And with the relationship the pair have, it really is like Butta won’t melt (sorry).
Bella was introduced to the family in December and it became immediately clear that the fierce little kitty would be just fine at holding her own around Butta.
“The adoption center said they found her in an abandoned building and she had been in some fights before, which is why her ears are a little wonky,” Gabrielle wrote on Instagram. “She’s truly a fighter.”
Since becoming an official member of the family, Bella and Butta have been getting on like a house on fire, and Gabrielle has shared it all onto the pair’s adorable Instagram account.
“They’re just joyful, energetic and playful,” Gabrielle told The Dodo. “They play all the time.”
We can really see the bond between the unlikely duo in some of the hilarious videos of the pair playing that Gabrielle has shared.
But aside from their play fights, Gabrielle managed to capture something a lot more unusual as the pair headed out on a road trip one day.
“We were on a road trip to Louisiana and they were playing as usual and just happened to fall asleep,” Gabrielle said. “I was surprised because it was weird that they were like that.”
Gabrielle documented the whole thing in a video, which instantly went viral once it was shared on Instagram. The hilarious video now has 276k views and took Butta and Bella’s following up to over 23,000, making the pair little animal celebrities.
The video is only a couple of seconds long and we can’t stop re-watching as the camera slowly zooms in on Bella’s head, which is wedged comfortably between the jaws of Butta.
The pair are both clearly sound asleep.
Gabrielle captioned the video ‘Long car rides be like… 😂 (when you’re hungry, but sleepy)’, and we think that sums the video up perfectly.
Apparently the pair haven’t slept like that since, but with the adorable bond that they share between them, we wouldn’t put it past it happening again!
We hope that Gabrielle has her camera ready whenever the two fall asleep, just in case.
