They bring a whole new meaning to "fighting like cats and dogs"

It’s not often that we see dogs and cats getting along.

The phrase “fighting like cats and dogs” exists for a reason, and it’s not surprising that these two species usually can’t find much common ground: their body languages seem like polar opposites— a wagging tail is indicative of pleasure in dogs and of anger in cats, and a kitty’s happy purring is mighty similar to the soft growl of your favorite canine.

But, not every cat-dog relationship is destined to end in disaster. The following adorable duo proves that even those with the most differences can become the best of friends.

In this short clip, uploaded to Newsflare by user harperwillowstore, we see a 6-year-old Labrador and a 9-month-old kitten who couldn’t love each other more if they tried!

The delightful 54-second video features the two pink-collared animals frolicking on a living room couch. Roxie the dog is seen standing on the floor while an unnamed kitten paws and nibbles at her fluffy, golden ear.

Soon, the kitten turns around, heading towards the corner of the couch, but her eyes widen in shock as Roxie sniffs her behind. Quickly, she beelines back over, flopping down and playfully batting the dog in the snout.

The older dog seems to be enjoying the kitten’s antics and attention— her tail cannot stop wagging, and the pleasant energy of the room is palpable even through a screen.

Roxie and the kitten soon take notice of the camera, turning to face (what we can only assume) is their owner. Roxie lays her head down on a furry pink blanket, and the kitten soon follows.

You can see the dog older dog squint as her kitten friend gives her enthusiastic kitten kisses.

The kitten gets distracted, but Roxie’s body is motionless (safe for her happy, wagging tail), as she anxiously awaits more affection and love from her feline buddy.

Her friend doesn’t leave her hanging, though!

The kitten quickly swoops back, playfully drumming Roxie’s nose with her paws before showering the pup with more kisses. The two animals seem to really enjoy each other’s company, not being able to let the other out of their sight for more than a few seconds.

The video ends as the kitten prances on to another couch.

Roxie the dog is not far behind and can be seen turning to look at the camera with a great, big smile as if to say, “I am having so much fun!”

If the unphased toddler in the background is any indication, I’m willing to bet that these shenanigans are nothing new for these two!
