Meet Sparta – an almost 11-year-old Bengali mix that goes by the nickname of the “Mean Kitty.” His owner, Cory, decided to do a little experiment with Sparta to judge his reaction, and let’s just say that the end result isn’t exactly what Cory hoped for – but one thing is for sure, it’s downright hilarious.

Sparta’s owner thought – “What would my cat do if I suddenly died?” So, he decided to fake his death, film it, and see how the “Mean Kitty” would react.

Although Sparta has the nickname of the “Mean Kitty,” it’s mostly just because of the grumpy look on his face. In fact, Cory says that Sparta is quite the lover. Unlike a lot of cats, Sparta loves to cuddle, play fetch, wrestle and be cradled like a baby.

Of course, even though Sparta has some unusual traits for a cat – he’s still a cat. Cats are incredible creatures, no doubt; but let’s face it, they can be a bit finicky when it comes to their affection, when they want to share it, and who they want to share it with.

It’s hard to tell how much your cat really loves you. One day they’re snuggling, the next day, you’re merely tolerated. Why not put that love to the ultimate test?

Cory has owned Sparta since he was adopted back in 2007, and they’ve developed quite the bond over the years. Let’s see how strong that bond really is. First, Cory clutches his chest, as if mimicking a heart attack before he collapses and falls to the floor.

Loki, the home’s other cat, is sitting on the stairs behind Cory, completely oblivious and uninterested in what’s going on. It wasn’t long before Sparta wanted to see what the commotion was about.

As Sparta wanders up to his collapsed owner, he sniffs his hand and nudges him for a pet. The cat isn’t quite sure why he’s not getting the usual affectionate reaction from his owner.

It seems promising that Sparta seems to care about Cory’s well being; the kitty lets out a few tiny meows. Are they meows of concern? Meows for cries of help? Sparta walks toward Cory’s legs and meows a few more times. Surely the cat is growing concerned, right?

To Cory’s disappointment, and our amusement, Sparta gives his owner a few more sniffs before deciding he’s given enough attention to this “problem.” The Bengali cat walks away from his ‘deceased’ owner and decides to lie down, roll over, and close his eyes for a nap.

“Really, dude?” Cory says when he realizes that his cat has zero interest in the fact that he just suffered a medical emergency in their living room. Well, not really, but that’s not the point.

The hilarious interaction was all caught on the video below, and if you ask us, it seems like Sparta knew the camera was there and was putting on a show. What do you think?
