Cats bring us love and joy, but this certain shelter cat that this woman took home brought her seven more hearts than she expected.

This woman just suffered the loss of her cat.

Katie Duda was mourning the loss of her only cat, Lucky. But, while she was browsing the internet, she happened to come across photos of two kittens who needed a home to go to. She must have been given a sign from heaven because, at that moment, she decided to contact the adoption place.

The place was located at Newbury Park, California.

It was called Wrenn Rescues, a non-profit rescue organization that was founded in 2018. They receive the needed help through people’s charitable donations and use it to maintain the shelter and most importantly, finding the best place for their rescues. They were also the ones who rescued the two kittens that Katie found on the internet, River, and Duda.

They accepted Katie’s adoption request and then went to pick them up.

When she arrived at the shelter, the first thing she noticed was the big heart shape on one of the kitten’s chests, although she wasn’t exactly sure about it. Katie did not spend a second more at the shelter after getting the kittens and rushed back home.

“I put my faith in Wrenn Rescues,” she told The Dodo.

When the kittens were slowly adjusting to their new home, that was when Katie noticed something interesting.

During the first few days, River and Remi would spend most of the time hiding behind every nook and cranny they could find. However, it did not take too long for them to become comfortable with their new family.

By that time, Katie started to notice River’s heart-shaped spots on his coat.

“I confirmed [one on] his chest, noticed his nose was more heart-shaped than most cats, then under his paws, chin, and more,” Katie shared. “To date, we’ve found seven complete hearts and two spots that look hearts at times.”

From his chin, paws, and head, you can find these hearts embedded in him. Who knows, there must be more of these beautiful spots that Katie didn’t find yet.

Aside from River’s heart-shaped prints, he also has a heart full of love.

Remi and River made Katie’s home livelier than ever.

Remi and River would spend their days playing and running around the house, and if they’re tired, you could see them lounging on Katie’s couch or above her piano. You can have a glimpse of their daily lives by visiting them on their Instagram, @rivers_hearts.

River felt that she made the right choice of bringing them home.

Seeing the happy cats in her home, Katie felt very lucky after making her decision back then.

“I expected the kittens to bring us joy, but truly they’ve brought us peace,” she added. “River, covered in hearts, is mending broken hearts.”

Pity that her cat Lucky wasn’t able to be with them anymore, but I am pretty sure her old cat is happy to know that she is already doing well.

“My first thought was that River’s hearts are Lucky’s way of making sure we know how much he loves us,” Duda said. “River’s hearts may not be a literal message to my family, but the love they bring is very real.”
