Meet Bella: a literal cat burglar who loves her life of crime!

Ten-year-old Bella lives with owner Shawn Bell in Vancouver. Bella loves being outdoors, and she typically spends her nights roaming around the neighborhood. During the day, she usually sleeps on Shawn’s couch.

One morning, Shawn walked outside and saw a strange pair of socks in his yard. He didn’t think anything of it at first, but then the clothes kept coming.

Soon, Shawn’s yard was filled with socks, babies’ onesies, shirts, and even undergarments. It quickly became clear who the culprit was: Bella.

“In the morning there’s clothes on the patio, clothes in my apartment, so she is busy,” Shawn told Global News. “And she does like to stay busy throughout the night because all she does throughout the day is sleep.”

Shawn decided to set up a surveillance camera so he could catch Bella red-handed.

Shawn’s plan worked well. Soon after he set up the camera, he saw Bella leaving his yard. Then, when she came back later, she has a blue sock in her mouth. Just like that, Shawn knew for sure what his cat was doing at night.

Bella has been stealing clothes for about a year now, and she’s gotten very particular in her tastes.

She’s a big fan of women’s clothes, and she also likes brand names like Calvin Klein and Oshkosh. She also loves socks of all shapes and sizes.

“Thank God it’s not dead animals,” Shawn said. “But she’s just as proud though, she has that ‘Meow.’”

Most of Shawn’s neighbors are aware of Bella’s antics, but they still hang their clothes in their yard. Some people even seem to be ‘trolling’ Bella now, like this neighbor who put out a shirt with a dog on it.

Shawn leaves all the clothes in his yard for people to reclaim. It’s amazing to see how big Bella’s collection has grown!

Shawn still loves Bella even if she doesn’t always behave too well.

“She’s my girl no matter how bad her behavior is,” Shawn told The Dodo. “I guess she has my unconditional love, even though she’s a kleptomaniac.”

This cat burglar loves her life of crime, and luckily, she doesn’t seem interested in more expensive items—she’s happy sticking with clothes for now. We hope that the pieces of clothing find their way back to their original owners!
