Can you trust a cat to babysit?
The verdict isn’t out yet but by how confused this cat is at the presence of a baby, maybe you’d have to reconsider your options.
In a video posted by Rumble Viral, a baby was lying right beside a rather hefty tabby cat. The two of them were just lazing around until the baby stretched their little arms out and accidentally hit the feline babysitter.
The cat tried to fend off the baby’s little knobs then it sprang up to look at the baby.
The cat’s face was hilarious. It looked like it was so confused about what the little creature is or how to “turn it off” just so it would stop moving so much.
The one-minute video has been viewed over 4 million times since it was posted.
The people had a good time visualizing the cat’s mental process because it just looks so confused and bothered. The cat doesn’t know if it’s okay to cuddle, if he had to move out of the way, or just sit there and wait for the baby to be carried away.
Unlike dogs with a pack mentality, cats are much more independent.
This puts them in stark contrast with dogs who are so excited and caring when it comes to babysitting.
Still, according to the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, there are advantages in raising kids alongside pets.
First off, pets provide a constant source of social contact.
They also stimulate a lot of physical activity when pets play around with babies and kids. More than that, pets provide kids a connection to nature and teach them about respecting other living things.
We hope that this baby grows up with a cat that’s less confused about its presence.
Maybe, if given enough time, this confused cat will finally understand that this “human puppy” will eventually grow to provide for their needs – from scratches to kibbles, or holding the laser for them to chase.
Maybe since the video was posted, the two have become best friends. That is if the cat didn’t take the video’s ending too personally!
