YouTube is a beautiful place. You can use it to teach yourself a new language, learn about the complexities of the world, stay up-to-date with the news… and watch videos of animals being weird.
The hours we’ve all lost watching these videos, as an animal-loving society, must rack up into the millions.
But it’s definitely not wasted time – because there’s scientific research to support the idea that funny animal videos are good for your mental health.
That’s probably why Funny Dog Bailey, a loveable golden retriever, has recently skyrocketed to YouTube fame.
In his two years of life, Bailey’s escapades – sometimes adorable, sometimes hilarious – have been shared online by his human dad and mom.
Turns out golden retrievers are pretty funny without even trying, and there are hours of golden content on Bailey’s channel to keep you busy.
His owners also like to get Bailey involved in hilarious challenges, like “How long can I hug my wife if we have a golden retriever” and “Hiding from a golden retriever in a trash bag”.
But the simplest videos are always the funniest – like a recent video titled: ” Golden Retriever Attacked by Kitten”.
In the video, Bailey lies on the couch, attempting to sleep, while a kitten climbs all over him.
Now, if you’ve ever owned a kitten, you’ll know that they typically go through a crazy, manic stage when they’re about a year old. If you’re a human, that probably means you’ll have your feet attacked on the regular.
But when these crazy kittens have access to other animals, there’s guaranteed chaos.
While Bailey just wants to sleep, his kitten friend just wants to play.
The video title ends with: “[TRY NOT TO LAUGH or GRIN]”, and it’s a challenge that most people wouldn’t succeed in!
The kitten climbs on Bailey from all angles, kneading his fur with his paws, clamoring for attention.
Bailey might be a patient dog, but even he can’t lie back and pretend his personal space isn’t being invaded.
Several times, he lifts his head and gives the meddlesome kitty a few warning nips with his mouth – but his feline friend couldn’t care less.
For nearly two minutes, the cat tries his very best to get Bailey’s attention. Bailey becomes more and more agitated, rolling on his back, getting up off his seat, and, at one point, attempting to lick the cat away.
Things get even more heated when the cat gets onto its back and grabs hold of Bailey’s nuzzle, giving him a few donkey kicks in the chin area.
This must be the last straw for Bailey, who nudges the kitty away, then faces the camera with a resigned expression.
It was only posted early this month, but it seems that a cat attacking a golden retriever is exactly what people want to see right now, because the video already has nearly half a million views.
People in the comments agree that Bailey is an exceptionally patient dog – and some theorize that the cat is likely looking for a lady… He’s probably booked in to be neutered any day now!
