This office kitty’s secret is sure to make you crack a smile.
Affectionately named CASHnip Kitty for his interest in snatching cash, this office kitty resides at a marketing firm called GuRuStu in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While a typical kitty prefers catnip, this kitty has a vested interest in cash instead.
According to Love Meow, the Tulsa marketing firm adopted CASHnip Kitty when he was just 6 months old from the local animal shelter.
“They said they found him out running around in an open field. He was homeless before coming to live with us.”
In addition to solving the marketing firm’s pest problem, this kitty took on the task of collecting funds of his own accord.
According to Stuart McDaniel, owner of GuRuStu, CASHnip Kitty helps out a lot around the office, as well.
“He hangs out with everyone at the office and often walks on our keyboards and even sends a few emails before we’re ready for them to be sent.”
It was roughly a month ago Stuart and several members of his team noticed random dollar bills floating near the entrance of the office. The money continued to flow into the office, and no one knew where it came from.
“Our buildings are located in one of the entertainment districts in downtown Tulsa and a lot of foot traffic goes by our door.”
Eventually, they tested a theory by using a dollar bill to play with the office kitty.
“We figured people must have been using dollars to play with the kitty through the door and he snatched their money.”
After slipping the dollar bill through the door slot, the office kitty wasted no time snatching the dollar away from them.
“We tried it again and over and over, he would jumped up and grabbed the dollar through the door slot.”
The office staff took to social media to share a video of CASHnip Kitty in action.
Stuart decided to put the kitty’s skill to use by donating it to the local homeless community. As of last week, the CASHnip kitty collected over $100 with his snatch-and-grab tactics. They even put a warning sign on the door to alert foot traffic.
“CASHnip Kitty is a hustler with a philanthropic heart. He will snatch your money and donate it to the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless. CASHnip Kitty says, ‘Slide a dollar through the slot and great blessings will follow.’ Search #CashnipKitty on Facebook to see his take each week!”
“Being in the downtown area we see a lot of homeless people pass by our window as they walk to the various nonprofit agencies who provide them services, like the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless. It weighs heavy on our hearts. Many of these people stop and play with our Kitty through the front window. They never bother us, they just love to tap the glass and say Hi to the Kitty. So that’s why we decided to donate CASHnip Kitty’s dollars to the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless.”
Before adopting the name CASHnip Kitty, the office staff nicknamed him “Sir Whines A Lot.” According to Stuart, as a kitten, he whined excessively until someone picked him up.
