A security camera at a local shelter caught an unknown car leaving their dog at a shelter and driving off.
A white SUV stopped outside the local animal shelter, Beaumont Animal Care, while it was raining hard outside. They let out their dog on the roadside by the grassy area. While the dog was distracted, they closed the door and sped off.
The dog heard the car driving away and ran to catch it.
But when they turned left at the next corner, they sped off even faster and the dog couldn’t catch it anymore.
“She still wants to be with her family and chases after the car all the way down the street,” Beaumont Animal Care officials said.
Dejected, the dog went back to the spot where she was dropped off. She probably thought her family will still come back and she needed to be at the spot where they left her so they could find her. It’s heartbreaking to see her craning her neck to look for signs of her family.
But everyone who saw this video knows that truth. She was abandoned by her former family.
It’s a good thing the staff at Beaumont Animal Care saw her and took her out of the rain and into their warm shelter.
The shelter is also a very responsible shelter with working security cameras so they were able to capture this heartbreaking scene. And now, they’ve posted the footage in hopes that someone will recognize the car and alert the shelter and authorities with information about the owners.
The former family probably didn’t know that dumping animals is against the law in Beaumont, Texas. Or maybe they do and they sped off so fast to avoid paying the $500 fine. Hopefully, the person who dropped off the dog gets caught so he learns his lesson.
And even if they get caught, it doesn’t change the fact that they dumped and abandoned this sweet dog.
“These animals don’t deserve to be abandoned in an unfamiliar place,” Beaumont Animal Care officials said. “It isn’t fair to the animals or the staff that are left dealing with the aftermath. Now this pup is left alone, confused, and wondering where her family went.”
Even though officials and staff at Beaumont Animal Care have been rehabilitating and rescuing animals for years, it’s still never easy.
“We’ve always known that working in the animal field can be heartbreaking, but days like this make it even harder,” Beaumont Animal Care officials admitted.
Even their followers could not believe someone could be this cruel.
“Praying this baby gets the best home ever. I can only imagine how she is feeling, sad and wondering why she is not with her family. Just horrible how she was abandoned. I can’t imagine this and I know it happens so often,” Shari Stark shared.
Since receiving her into their shelter, Beaumont Animal Care is preparing her for adoption.
They’re working hard to find her forever home. She deserves to be in a home with a family who will love and take care of her until the end.
