Puppies are the cutest things ever. With their adorable faces, tiny feet, and oh, that puppy breath, you can’t help but fall in love with them. Just like children, they go through different phases of learning. One day, they take their first steps. Then, they learn how to play. And of course, there’s the barking phase.

He’s a character

For one dog, it was the howling phase. The story starts with a dog that appears to be a German Shepherd mix with beautiful blue eyes although we’re not certain. That’s Rodie, a wonderful adult pup. You can tell he’s mature by the gray around his muzzle. He went through all the normal baby steps but then he started to howl.

They’re best friends

Rodie lives with his best friend, Stella, a gorgeous yellow Labrador. In a video that’s now been viewed more than 77,000 times, you see these two going at it all day, in a playful manner of course. They’re almost always side by side.

They seldom stop

Whether rolling around in the grass or chasing one another indoors, these two are always on the go. Even though there’s an apparent age difference, Rodie has no problem keeping up with the younger Stella.

An ordinary dog

For the most part, Rodie is a typical dog. He plays, sleeps, cuddles, and sleeps. But this sweet boy has one very special talent…he howls. And we mean howls. When he speaks, his owners listen.

He lets loose anywhere

Whether inside the house or outside in the backyard, when Rodie wants attention, his owners know it. Then again, sometimes he howls, well, because he can. Initially, Stella just looks on. But you get the sense she’s taking it all in.

Rodie the teacher

Since Stella is still quite young, she follows just about everything Rodie does. If he runs, she runs, if he sleeps, she sleeps. He’s been a great teacher of many things.

Can an old dog learn new tricks?

Or can an old dog teach a young pup old things? That’s more like it when it comes to these two dogs. Come to find out, Rodie is both a good and not so good influence.

She found her voice

Yep, you guessed it. After watching and listening to Rodie howl, Stella thought she’d give it a try. Fortunately for all of us, their owners captured it on video. It didn’t take long before she too becomes a howler. The funny thing is that most Labradors don’t howl.

These lucky owners

They’re used to hearing Rodie howl so it’s no big deal. But with Stella following suit…okay, they can’t be mad at her either. After all, just look at that adorable face? How on earth could anyone get upset with a sweet pup like this?

Adapting well

Despite having two howling dogs, the owners are coping incredibly well. Watching their dogs romp around and love each other makes all the noise worth it. On any given day, there’s never a dull moment around their house.

She’ll get there

Just like all the other things Stella had to learn, she’ll figure the howling thing out. For now, she needs a little bit of practice. That means Rodie still reigns as the howling expert. But it won’t take long before she’s as good as he is. Oh, boy, that’ll be fun.
