We always hear stories about dogs being abandoned or left on the streets. Their heartbreaking tales are difficult to accept, but this reality happens every day worldwide.

Although there are organizations that aim to lessen the number of discarded pets, their efforts can only do so much based on where they are situated or the scope of their reach. This is why it is important to know that individuals can also do something for these animals.

Being foster fur parents is a thing that has given the animals more hope of having a good life.

Not all people are capable of doing the responsibilities of adopting a dog, but fostering is a great way to make sure that, at some point, a dog can have a good shot at surviving in this world. Who knows? A short encounter between a foster fur parent and a dog can even lead to forever togetherness.

Meet Mr. Buttons, a Chihuahua from Florida.

His name is Mr. Buttons, not because he is as cute as one but because of the buttons literally sewn onto his cute face. The 8-year-old doggo was surrendered to the Peggy Adams Animal Shelter in West Palm Beach, Florida, and was later put in foster care.

The buttons were sewn on his face to keep the stitches in place.

Knowing the playful nature of dogs, it would be very difficult to ensure that the stitches are all intact while the dog is recuperating. The solution to achieve this is by sewing tiny buttons on the dog’s face. Mr. Buttons is also wearing a cone on his head to prevent further damage to himself.

Can you imagine living by yourself with no one to turn to? These lost dogs who have no forever families are just the same. Being alone and unwanted has gotten them in a state of fear and loneliness, and in some severe cases, some find themselves on the brink of death because of neglect.

Mr. Buttons is quite lucky to have met his foster parent, and the fact that he was brought to an animal shelter is already a miracle. Claudia advocates for some people to try on this role, knowing that thousands of animals can be saved by giving the time and effort from people who love them.
