A bus driver in Canada makes a very special stop every single day – but this stop isn’t on her normal route. She goes out of her way to make sure a stray dog has something to eat.
Feed The Fur Babies Canada is a wonderful organization that dedicates their time and effort to providing food and supplies to rescued pets. They also make sure that stray animals living in rural communities don’t go starving.
One of the organization’s volunteers is a bus driver that noticed a stray pup over two years ago. She would like to remain anonymous because she’s been adding a stop to her route ever since she laid eyes on the dog.
Two years ago, the woman noticed a dog digging through the trash for food, the poor thing was skin and bones.
It wasn’t long before she saw the dog along the side of the road, but this time, she was prepared to help and tossed out a bag of food. The dog was clearly skittish and afraid of people, but ever since then, the bus driver started a bond and tradition with the stray animal.
“She has continued to feed him every day, Monday to Friday, at the same location,” Kareena Grywinski, founder of Feed The Furbabies Canada, told The Dodo. “He sits and patiently waits every day no matter what the weather is like.”
Even though it’s been two years, the dog is still a bit reluctant to get too close to the bus driver. The good news is – he’s no longer emaciated or starving.
The woman, nor the organization, know the dog’s backstory or living conditions; however, since he shows up every day for food, they assume that it could only be his source of food for the day. Both the bus driver and Feed The Fur Babies Canada would love to take the dog in, but sadly, there just aren’t enough foster families or room in the shelters.
“This community has over a 100 dogs needing to be rescued; it breaks our hearts that we can’t take them all home,” Grywinski said. “There just aren’t enough foster homes available for these precious pets. We do the best we can by providing them food and dog houses until a space opens up in a rescue for them.”
