Every parent, human or animal, has to grapple with the occasional tantrum thrown by their offspring.
Patches, a mother bulldog, is no stranger to this universal parenting experience.
Her little one, Elvis, seems to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed, and he’s not shy about expressing his displeasure.
Elvis is the only pup born to Patches. He was born with a cleft lip, which gives him a permanent sneer reminiscent of the legendary Elvis Presley, hence his name.
But his charming sneer isn’t the only thing Elvis has going for him; he’s also got a hefty dose of attitude.
When Elvis is unhappy, he makes sure everyone, especially his mother, hears about it.
Elvis’s cleft lip, while contributing to his unique charm, also led to some challenging weeks following his birth.
But Elvis was fortunate to have not just a caring canine mother, but also a compassionate human owner.
One particular day, Patches was keeping a close eye on Elvis, and he was not pleased about it.
He had no qualms about getting right in his mother’s face and growling. But his small size made his growling more adorable than intimidating.
Patches, being the wise mother that she is, knew better than to be intimidated and stayed put.
When Patches accidentally placed her paw on Elvis’s face, his tantrum escalated.
His loud protest even prompted their owner to comment, “Oh, he is going to be mad at you! Whoa, he is saying don’t do that. Oh, you’re a fierce bulldog, oh my.”
Despite Elvis’s tantrum, Patches tried to get close to him.
But Elvis was having none of it.
He wanted some space from his overly protective mom.
Eventually, Patches had enough and decided to lay down a few feet away from Elvis.
What happened next was a classic display of a child’s behavior.
Once Patches stopped paying attention to Elvis, he suddenly wanted his mom.
He tried to snuggle up to her as an apology for his tantrum.
Patches initially tried to ignore him, but who could resist that adorable face?
It didn’t take long for Patches to forgive Elvis and snuggle with him. Apology accepted.
Given the opportunity, Patches started to clean her pup.
She just wanted to take care of her baby, like any good mother.
But Elvis, the fierce little bulldog that he is, didn’t let his mother clean him for too long before he started barking at her again.
Elvis may have had a tough start to life, but he’s making up for it now.
He’s not only loved by his dog mom but also by many others around him.
Patches’ owners shared, “We gave him to a veterinary technician who always wanted a white bulldog, and she had helped treat him from birth. Everybody won with Elvis. We were blessed to have him, his new family was thrilled to get him. What he lacked in physical perfection, he made up for in personality.”
