Over six years ago, an 8-year-old Australian cattle dog named Buddy touched a lot of peoples’ hearts with his story.

One day, Buddy was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Her owner, Emily Mochan was told that her dog only had six weeks to live. It broke her heart not only into two but into smithereens.

Learning that she only had a little time remaining to live with her dog was definitely heart-wrenching but Emily had decided to make the most out of it. She wanted to make Buddy’s remaining days still worth living but still, she just couldn’t grasp the fact that her dog would be leaving her soon.

To help her with the current situation, a friend suggested a bright idea so she and Buddy could part ways happily. Soon after, she made a bucket list which she promised to fulfill given the little amount of time her furry friend had left.

It’s the least that she could do before her beloved pooch crosses the rainbow bridge.

She decided to share Buddy’s remaining days with the rest of the world.

Emily created a Facebook page where she uploaded her beloved pooch’s remaining time left in the world and named it “Buddy’s Bucket List.” There, she shared their adventures together while doing everything on the list.

Apart from immortalizing their moments together on the internet, she also wanted to help other dog owners who were going through the same situation as her. To no surprise, people online came in swarming the lovely dog’s social media account and it gained thousands of followers.

With all the likes and shares, Buddy’s story became extremely viral that it reached news channels and radio stations.

From having his very own fast-food order, “paw-painting”, and a birthday party!

Buddy did it all and with the help of the people online, Buddy’s bucket list racked up to 50 items in total! The eight-year-old Australian cattle dog ate some of the most sumptuous meals in the world that a dog could ever have like ice cream, sausage, a burger, and a cooked steak.

Buddy was also able to ride a boat, inside a police mobile, an ambulance, a Jeep, a Harley, and a limousine! Emily really made everything possible for her beloved pooch and while achieving everything on the list, she also made sure her furry buddy was safe.

Buddy even became an honorary service dog.

His story was shared with other dog owners and it helped raise awareness about dogs like him. Despite his health condition, Buddy tried his best to be a role model even though sometimes he was slow and limping during events.

Emily’s dog lived a meaningful life, he even outlived the six weeks given by the vet. He survived another nine weeks after they received the tragic news about his illness. However, he still wasn’t able to outbattle cancer.

Buddy wasn’t able to accomplish #41 on his list which was to help other pets in need. However, it became a success when his toys were donated to the RSPCA. Not only that because they also donated the money raised from a GoFunMe account that was set up in Buddy’s honor.

Contagious but beautiful.

People who got the chance to know Buddy were deeply touched by his story that’s why other dog owners who were in a similar situation as Emily and Buddy were inspired to create their own list of to-do lists.

A dog’s lifespan usually ranges from eight to eleven years depending on its size and weight. Sadly, some dogs don’t even reach their maximum life expectancy due to many reasons, one of which is a terminal illness like cancer.

That is why it’s important to not only give what your dog needs but also give them all the love and care in the world.
