It was love at first sight when Sandra first saw Bruce Willis’s photo.

Not the actor, a stray cat who was rough around the edges with chipped teeth and a healed-over eye injury.

The only problem was that her landlord didn’t allow pets. Still, she was so drawn to Bruce that she went to go visit him at the shelter anyway.

“I saw Mister Willis the first time in a post that the Animal Humane Society in Minnesota uploaded in August last year. There was something about his eyes that just spoke to me. He looked so sad. I knew I couldn’t do anything about it since my lease didn’t allow pets and I was also not planning on getting a cat. Even so, I had to go and visit him,” Sandra told Bored Panda.

She later learned that Bruce was sick.

The poor boy had a respiratory infection.

So, Sandra decided that she would keep visiting him until someone finally adopted him.

“He looked even sadder in real life and I had to leave after only a couple of minutes because it was so heartbreaking. For some reason, I kept going back to visit him. He is FIV positive, which isn’t a big deal, but since he was at an animal shelter with lots of other pets, he got an upper respiratory infection. He was really sick for a while. I hoped that someone would adopt him, but he was still there, week after week.”

Sandra knew she had to make a plea to her landlord to bend the “no pets” rule.

She sent him a picture of Bruce and the ginger cat’s solemn look won the landlord over.

Sandra raced to go pick up Bruce after she got the OK from her landlord. His sad demeanor changed almost instantly when he arrived in his new home.

He purred the entire night away. Since then he is like Sandra’s shadow following her around all day, according to Love Meow.

He loves his new mommy.

It took a little while for him to realize that he no longer had to fight for food or anything else in this new home.

Everything was given to him, and he was showered with nothing but love. Whenever mom sits on the couch, Bruce comes running to cuddle up alongside her.

Bruce is such a happy boy now that he purrs so loud that doctors can’t hear his heartbeat when he goes for a checkup.

He goes to bed snuggling his mom at night and wakes up right next to her doing the same.

Bruce spent years of his life wandering the streets without anyone taking care of him or loving him.

The transition that Bruce has undergone is simply amazing. The once sad-faced boy is now loved beyond measure and is extremely happy in his new forever home. You can follow Bruce on Instagram @mrwillisthecat.
