Dogs have amazing traits that make them loved and cherished pets.
They are known to be loyal, playful, and intelligent. For thousands of years, humans and dogs have lived together in harmony. Dogs also form lasting and unbreakable bonds with each other.
One example of how dogs can bond with each other is Linda and Brenda.
These two pitties were strays together, roaming the streets until Minneapolis Animal Care and Control took them in.
When they got there, staff members put the dogs in individual kennels beside each other, like they normally do.
They didn’t realize that the two dogs needed to be together, not just beside each other.
One morning, staff were surprised to find Brenda in Linda’s kennel.
“Me and another employee were walking through the kennels and we walked by and we had to [like] triple take, ‘What’s going on?’, because two pitties came to the front of a kennel to greet us,” Madison Weissenborn of Minneapolis Animal Care and Control told CBS Philadelphia.
They checked the security cameras and were surprised to see Brenda jumping over the wall to be with Linda.
You can see in the video that Brenda jumped up and held on to the top of the wall with her front legs before going completely over.
“We are impressed with her spirit and desire to be with her friend!” Danielle Joerger, Minneapolis Animal Care and Control shelter supervisor told The Dodo.
The staff realized they had to keep Brenda and Linda together. They found a bigger kennel where the two best friends could stay together.
“Brenda is a wonderful helper dog in our playgroups. Linda is a happy co-exister. These girls love to run and play,” Joerger also shared.
Everyone who saw them together knew that they had to be adopted together and couldn’t be separated.
The video of Brenda jumping over the wall to be with Linda went viral on social media and viewers also shared that they hoped the dogs would still be together even after finding new homes.
Fortunately, a woman soon saw them and adopted them together.
Now, Brenda and Linda are living happily with their new owner. The entire staff at Minneapolis Animal Care and Control are overjoyed that the two dogs got a happy ending together.
“We are thrilled they get to continue being lifelong friends,” Joerger said.
Unfortunately, there are many other dogs still waiting to find their own forever homes.
Minneapolis Animal Care and Control is almost at full capacity and they shared that adoptions are down while surrenders are up. Most animals are being surrendered due to housing issues, such as moving to new homes that don’t allow certain dog breeds.
To help encourage more adoptions, Minneapolis Animal Care and Control are waiving all adoption fees for animals seven months and older.
They also have special events, such as “Clear the Shelter,” which resulted in 17 dogs and five cats being adopted, a record number for the shelter.
If you are thinking of buying a pet, please consider adopting one instead and give an adorable dog like Brenda or Linda a new home.
