A pet is the best thing that you can ever bring into your child’s life. Not only will your child learn about unconditional love and what it’s like to have a best friend, but they will have special memories that will last a lifetime. Pets can also boost the immune system, reduce stress levels and minimize feelings of loneliness.
Pets quickly become their owner’s best friend – so when one little boy’s beloved dog went missing, his heart was completely broken.
Eleven-year-old Rocco Risso loved nothing more than hanging out with his dog, Jack. So the day Jack went missing, his whole world got turned upside down.
No one knew where Jack was or what had happened to him. The family frantically searched high and low for him, but eventually, they had to admit defeat. Eight long months went by, and they began to accept that Jack might not be coming back.
During those eight months, the family was plagued with thoughts of where Jack was, and what he could be doing. Was he alive? Did he have access to food and water? Was he in a new home, or was he living out in the streets? The worst thing about your pet going missing is simply not knowing if they’re safe.
Despite the fact that it had been eight months, Rocco refused to give up.
Every day, Rocco would leave his home in Argentina and go to search for Jack. A dog that looked like Jack had been spotted by a family friend hanging around a gas station. They didn’t want to get the family’s hopes up, but they said the resemblance was uncanny.
The friend decided to take a closer look at the dog. Was it going to be Jack?
It was! After eight months of living out on the streets, Jack was still alive – and it seemed that he had been trying to find his way back home again. After identifying the pooch, the friend coaxed Jack into their car and called the family with the incredible news.
Once it was determined that the dog was in fact Jack, Rocco’s family decided to come up with a special surprise for him.
Naturally, they captured the surprise on video, and it’s enough to bring a tear to your eye.
Rocco’s mom calls him to come outside, and the unsuspecting boy has no idea what’s going on! But as soon as he gets out of the doorway and spots his beloved dog in front of him, he stops dead in his tracks. He simply cannot believe his eyes.
After eight lonely months, Rocco rushes forward and embraces Jack. It’s like a scene from a movie.
Rocco has no words to express how he’s feeling, so he shows it with his actions instead. He envelopes Jack into a great big hug, and overcome with emotion, he begins to weep into his friend’s fur. It’s a truly beautiful moment.
Rocco’s mom is quick on the scene to comfort her emotional son – but he doesn’t cry for long. It’s time to play with Jack, and after almost a year of not being able to, they’ve got a lot of catching up to do!
The bond between the pair is clear to see as Jack leaps up into Rocco’s arms. It’s a bond that doesn’t deserve to be broken, and we couldn’t be happier that Jack is back in Rocco’s life again.
