Throughout the US, people who live close to woodland areas can see raccoons, those small and cute animals that walk around at night.
Raccoons are nocturnal animals, which means they basically show up at night, but they can sometimes be spotted during the day, just like the Blind Raccoon in this story.
You see, YouTube user Eryn09 used to feel close to a small wild animal since about 2010, and for the next five years.
Eryn and her family believed that the raccoon was blind because its eyes looked strange and it also acted oddly around plants and other animals.
“His eyes shine bright green during the day. He is at least partially blind. He walks into things. He is afraid of the wind, high grass, birds, and snow,” the woman explained.
So, over five years, the wild animal spent quite some time around the family’s backyard, while Eryn and her parents gave it some food up to three times a day.
It was quite cute, but the sweet story did not end there- actually, it got much better.
The blind raccoon found cat friends a few years later.
You see, Eryn explained that two black cats “magically” showed up at some point, and they started getting close to the wild animal.
Eventually, they were called the raccoon’s bodyguards, which might actually be true!
“They would magically appear when he would come for food. So they figured out that Blind Raccoon = FOOD. So they would appear when the Blind Raccoon (and sometimes other raccoons) would show up,” Eryn wrote.
Soon, the three of them showed up and they walked around the garden all together.
They obviously enjoyed each other’s company.
As you can see in the video below, the first black cat accompanied the blind raccoon and they went downstairs together.
In the garden, the two of them met the second black cat- aka the second bodyguard- and they all kept walking around close to each other.
Both of the feral cats followed their wild friend, and they even showed him the way.
They just wouldn’t leave him alone.
Eryn was glad she had been carrying a camera and took a video of them- indeed, as it was quite the scene.
The woman made an update in 2017, sharing that the wild animal sadly passed away in 2015, when it was about five years old.
As she explained, this kind of animal lives in the wild about 3 years, so it was kind of a miracle for a blind wild animal to live so much longer.
As for the cats, Eryn tamed them after both her mother and her older cat died.
Eventually, she felt so close to these “bodyguards” that she kept them home and loved them a lot.
The video showing the raccoon and his friends has been viewed more than 7 million times, and it has touched thousands of users’ hearts.
