Some people get excited over for the simple things in life.
A warm spring day, freshly bloomed flowers, a walk in the park.
As for Mackenzie the Husky, her happy place is a snow day.

Mackenzie delights in hopping around in some freshly fallen snow.
She loves the snow so much that even though she can’t see it, she can sense it.
You see, Mackenzie is blind. Mandy Leung adopted Mackenzie when she was 10-months-old and blind in her right eye due to glaucoma.

The sweet dog ended up going completely blind about a month later.
Though Mackenzie was blind, you’d never know it.
She lives her life as if she has total sight.

“She gets around new places just fine and can play fetch like a normal dog!” Leung told The Dodo. “I even forget that’s she’s blind sometimes because she stares right into my eyes when she looks at me.”
What Mackenzie loves most is playing outside.
“I love taking Mackenzie to new places to explore. New dog parks, new hiking trails. I want to expose her to as many new things as I can, that way she can experience the things normal dogs do. Even if you can’t see the beautiful scenery, you can smell all the different scents and just absorb it all,” Leung said.
Outside is where Mackenzie can let loose and have fun.
“Mackenzie is very quiet at home but she is very silly and mischievous outside,” Leung said. “She is the most friendly pup and has never met anyone she doesn’t like.”

And snowy weather is her ultimate favorite.
Though she can’t see the snow falling, she can feel it when it lands on her wet nose.
That’s when she gets real excited. Her reaction to snow days was is so sweet that Leung had to catch it on video one day.

We can see the moment Leung opens the door, a few snowflakes fly toward Mackenzie’s face.
She steps out onto the snow and quickens her pace once she feels the soft snow below it.
She starts hopping around then turns around toward her mom as if she’s smiling. But after that, she’s off! Mackenzie jets off down the stairs and into the yard so she can sprint back and forth.
Mackenzie is having a ball doing some fun spins and making paw angels in the snow.
Then she gives herself a shake to shed some of the fallen flakes on her back. Mackenzie was in her absolute glory outside in the snow. Mackenzie would stay out there playing for hours and hours if mom let her.

The only trouble is getting Mackenzie to come back inside.
“Snow is one of her favorite things and she never wants to come inside if there is snow outside,” Leung said.
