There is a post over on Reddit that has made it to the top and been 95% upvoted. It also has 860 very enthusiastic comments. So, what has people talking? It’s the love between a man and a dog, or in this case, a blind dog named Bitsy and her grandpa. When Hayden posted a single frame from her video of their reunion on Reddit, she never could have imagined the response it would have.
It turns out that it’s not just Bitsy who is happy that we’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel regarding COVID.
Would she remember him?
It has been a long time since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis, and it caused many families to stay apart to keep everyone safe. When it began, Hayden had to stop traveling, which included taking a break from visiting her father. This meant that the dogs had to take a break from seeing their grandpa too.
Steve was understandably worried that Bitsy might forget who he was after all that time apart.
Forming a bond that could never be broken
Five years ago, back when Hayden was still living with her dad, she brought home a tiny five-week-old Australian Shepard mix. The small puppy had been born both deaf and blind. Raising her seemed like it would be an incredible task, and Steve didn’t know how much he would be able to help.
However, as time went on, the energetic Bitsy won him over, and they formed a strong bond. He became her favorite person, and she became his favorite dog. They were practically inseparable.
Still, more than a year apart could mean that she might forget who he was.
The time spent apart
Bitsy still had a full life in 2020, despite the pandemic and not being able to see her grandpa. She was spending time with the other dogs, her human mom, and even horses! There was plenty going on in this dog’s world, despite things slowing down around the globe. Her days continued to be full of activities and excitement.
There may even have been a birthday party at some point. In fact, we’re almost certain there was.
Being reunited
Finally, it was time for the family to be reunited. Hayden was going to visit her dad, and of course, Bitsy would be coming along too. The only question that remained on their minds was if Bitsy would remember her grandpa.
When they arrived, Hayden was filming everything. There were a tense few seconds at first when they weren’t sure if Bitsy would recognize her grandpa. Those didn’t last very long. Not only did she remember him, but she was also absolutely thrilled to see him. We’ve never seen so much love and excitement!
In all those long months that had stretched out to a year, he had never been forgotten for even one moment. Bitsy still knew exactly who her grandpa was. She wagged her tail so hard that her entire body went with it. There was no denying that she was thrilled to see him again.
Some bonds are just too strong to be broken. This is definitely one of those.
