It always amazes us how human-like some birds can be, from mimicking words spoken by their owners to showing off their emotions the same way a human would. It turns out that birds can also enjoy music like us humans do, and they react to certain sounds in the most adorable way.
So when we stumbled across a video of a cockatoo rocking out to some 80’s music, we knew that it was going to be comedy gold. To make your day a little bit better, we’ve decided to share the video with you, and you won’t want to miss it!
This Black Palm cockatoo certainly looks like he’s a hardcore fan of heavy metal, but video evidence proves that he also enjoys a bit of soft rock eighties music.
The hilarious clip was posted onto YouTube by blackpalmcockatoos and features their Black Palm getting his groove on to the B-52’s. As soon as the music starts, the funny bird begins to bounce up and down, waving his talons around and bobbing his head.
As the bird gets more into it, he even opens his mouth and wiggles about his tongue as if he’s trying to sing along.
You can tell he’s really enjoying the song – or maybe he’s mimicking how his owner reacts to this music! Either way, it’s absolutely hilarious to see, and we could watch this bird getting his groove on all day.
The bird’s owner explained in the YouTube caption that his Black Palm has a very specific music taste, and when he hears his favorite type of music he will always start to dance!
He said:
“This is a little bit of our Palm’s dancing and drumming behavior. It’s pretty easy to get him going with reggae and some 80’s music. He particularly loves the B-52’s.”
The video soon went viral with 1.1 million views and over 24,000 likes, making this Black Palm somewhat of an internet celebrity! We reckon he’ll have his own dance show very soon.
People took to the comments to give their opinion on the bird’s hilarious dancing. One person joked:
‘When you’re all goth, but still groove out to your favorite jams from when you were younger.’
Someone else added:
‘The Palm Cockatoo is actually quite the drummer in real life. In order to attract a mate, he holds a piece of wood in his foot & drums it on the inside of a tree hollow.’
The more you know!
It turns out that cockatoos aren’t the only birds who like to dance. This next video posted by Caters Clips features a parrot at a party -yes you read that right- and this colorful guy is feeling the music!
Much to the amusement of partygoers who dance around the parrot, he bops his head in time to the music and dances completely in time to the beat! We can’t imagine what it feels like to be at a party with a parrot – and the fact that he can also be your dance party makes it even better.
After seeing what kind of moves these birds have got, we now hope that we’re invited to a party with a bird, asap. They’ve certainly got the moves!
