When the summer heat gets sweltering, we all like to find a place to cool off.
Unfortunately, not everyone has air conditioning in their home.
So, that leaves many trying to find a nice pool to swim in, if they can’t get to a natural body of water.
That goes the same for bears. Nature doesn’t have central air conditioning.
And bears can get very hot under those thick furry coats in the summertime.
For some unfortunate homeowners with pools, this means they are having company.
YouTuber Tim Basso was looking out his back window one summer to find an entire family of black bears splashing around in his above-ground pool as a way to beat the summer heat.
There was a mother and not just one but five of her little cubs.
So, this wasn’t just a quick dip. It was a full-on pool party.
If you Google “bear in pool,” or something like that, you’ll know that this isn’t something that’s out of the ordinary.
Especially in the summer.
Experts say that bears often seek out these spots to cool down.
“Bears are attracted to water, especially in the summer. Swimming pools, hot tubs, and artificial ponds all make good places for a bear to cool off,” BearWise writes.
But Basso and his family didn’t seem to mind. They even took a video of this family bear pool party.
Well, the Basso children were the exception.
“There’s bears in the pool!” a child can be heard moaning off camera. “They took my floatie!
“It’s OK. They’re having fun,” a female adult can be heard saying off camera to a child.
The video shows the mama bear standing in the pool while her little ones climb in and out of the pool.
Then you hear dad hollering at the bears.
“Tim, leave them alone. The water’s already dirty,” the woman says.
Some of the little cubs are teetering on the edge of the pool until they gain the courage to hop in.
“Well, that’s it the pools done for the summer,” dad says.
Dad is upset over the bears potentially poking holes in his pool, rather than the sanitary level of the water.
The kids start crying and are upset at the prospect of their pool being destroyed, but dad just tells them that it’s a hazard of owning a pool in the area.
At this point, the Bass family decides to just enjoy the show.
All four of the cubs get in the water while one decides that he wants to play with the toys in the yard. After that, one of the bears gets out to play on the slide while some play fight in the water.
“They look like teddy bears, don’t they,” mom says. “Look at the one walking that is so cute.”
The bear family is having the time of their life thanks to their neighbors letting them enjoy their pool.
