News broadcasting may come off as a serious business, but animals unexpectedly interrupting the show always takes the seriousness down a notch. All around the globe, people have seen animals disrupting live news reports in the most hilarious ways. One of them is a hilarious bird who became curious about a camera and decides to look at it while being broadcasted live for a weather news segment.

This curious crow surprises newscasters during the weather segment.

In 2017, San Francisco’s local news broadcasting channel, KTVU, was, as usual, serving the people with the freshest news. After a while, they began their weather segment, and Mark Tamayo was there to present his report. Behind Tamayo was a screen showing a live shot of the San Francisco cityscape. As he carried on with his report, a giant bird head peeked out at the camera, which was clearly shown on the big screen.

The bird was looking at the camera lens with curiosity. The crow lingered and even pecked the glass a little as if he was knocking. The shocked reporter stepped away from the screen and stopped his report for a little bit because of the unexpected bird visitor. A few seconds after, the bird flew away from the camera.

Everyone on the set enjoyed the bird’s short-lived visit.

Tamayo was tongue-tied during a brief moment but he reacted pretty well about it. Tamayo and the rest of KTVU’s anchors took a short break and had a quick chat and giggles about the surprising situation that caught them all off guard. It was a hilarious sight, and surely, everyone watching the broadcast on TV had a great laugh about it.

The bird incident became instantly viral on the internet.

The clip spread like fire on social media and especially on Twitter, where Mark Tamayo himself uploaded the video. Tamayo admitted that he was speechless during that moment. In his own words, he wrote on the video’s caption:

“Was a little speechless when this guy flew into the picture. Big thanks to this bird for adding some character to the forecast.”

The clip got 33,000 retweets and more than 80,000 likes on Twitter. The video also got an impressive view count after KTVU uploaded it on YouTube; it racked up over 4 million views and 194,000 likes.

The same thing happened on another news channel.

Bird photobombing during live sets is not new to many news stations. In 2016, on the Denver7 News channel, a similar event happened during one of their weather reports. Lisa, the reporter that evening, got startled after the screen showed a crow walking in front of the camera. The bird examined the lens and even cawed in front of it.

Meanwhile, from behind the big screen, Lisa jokingly kissed the bird’s magnified beak and laughed along with the anchors. The unique thing with Tamayo’s situation from Lisa’s was the fact that while the crow was live on KTVU’s cam, on the Denver7 broadcast, it was a pre-recorded shot; you could eventually notice the video looping.

There are more and more news bloopers even in 2020.

News stations around the world still encounter funny animals interrupting their segments, especially during quarantine when most reporters have to give their reports at home. Sometimes, their pets unexpectedly walk in during a live recording.
